I was dreading this post. I'm so stressed about getting things done. I'll be almost nonstop working the next few weeks.
Left to do:
-Paint our cake topper
-Make our Thank You sign for pictures
-Order little things like napkins and bubbles
-Finish getting the vases for the centerpieces
-Buy votives for centerpieces
-Buy fabric markers and a basket for our guestbook (handkerchiefs that we'll make into a quilt)
-Set up the Ipod for the ceremony music
-Reserve the chairs (hopefully next week)
-Buy the flower petals for the aisle
-Reserve a nail appointment
-Hair and makeup trial (hopefully on February 5)
-Reserve transportation (optional but would be nice)
-Buy ties for the guys
-Have my dress bustled and pressed (it already fits perfectly so that's all I need done)
-Buy/engrave wedding bands (I have his picked out, just have to order it and mine will be around mid-January that we have the appointment to custom make one but he said it'd be done by mid-February)
-Figure out the favors/groom's cake with the bakery
-Decide on our cake flavors and design
-Meet the officiant (we're out of town so hopefully the end of the month will allow time for this)
-Mail our invitations (about to order the stamps so they should be out next week)
I hate having so much to do and everything being at least an hour and a half to two hours away.
@mandb122: It seems like you have most of the big stuff done though. It looks like lots of small stuff. I know I have a ton of small things left. Can you do your shopping either online or in the town you live in instead of having to travel the hour+ to accomplish them? I know it seems stressful but you have lots done already. Keep your chin up!
@Nola: A lot of the shopping can be done here. But I know I need to travel for some of it. Writing it out actually makes it look more doable than thinking about it. If I can get the bigger things done (invitations, chairs, transportation, and rings) then I will be home free and can get through the rest no problem.
Any other March Brides?
@mandb122: I like these lists because it helps me to stay on track. I feel like I have so much more to do then what I just listed though
Where are the other March girl?
In the few days of Jan. I have already ordered the groomsmens gifts, picked out a shirt for the guys during the wedding, and bought our table clothes. I am feeling so great and so very excited! UNTIL I look at my DIY list and I am sure I am about to be like wtf I have so many projects and not enough time to get them done.
I'm trying so hard to get all the big appointments made and all of the big stuff done. I feel so much closer until I realize I have a bunch of little things to do although I know those won't take nearly as much time. Hopefully our stamps will come within the next couple of days so I can mail out the invitations by Friday. And I should have the chair rentals taken care of by next week. I did contact the girl that's doing my hair and makeup and she said the hair and makeup trial as well as my final hair cut before the wedding will more than likely work on February 5 so that's exciting. Also, I contacted a few different transportation companies (hoping for a carriage to bring me up to the aisle and take us to the reception venue) as well as sent out an email about doing our cake tasting (one of two) at the end of the month and getting the consultation out of the way through email.
@mandb122: Sounds like you have made some good progress this week. I love doing cake tasting. I am thinking of changing my grooms cake to a cherry pie. I also want a carriage for brining me to the ceremony. However, I don't want to pay $300 just for it. Especially since I will already be at my venue so they will pick me up at the back of the house and go around half a block to drop me off. So not worth $300 if you ask me. LOL
@Nola: Yeah we just got the quotes back and $600 for two hours for our $6-7K budget is a large portion so we probably won't be doing a carriage. And we're probably doing mini apple pies for our favors. They don't really fit anywhere besides that they're so cute and sound so good.
This is my left to do list:
Still to do:
As you can see, I am behind on a couple of things, but I should be able to catch everything up by the end of the month.
@noritake22: Are you making your bouquets? I am making all the flowers other then my bouquet and I keep forgeting that I need to go on Sam's club and order the flowers.
The last few days have been like a train wreck of emotions and I am lacking motivation to get wedding stuff done. I am thinking that maybe todays I could atleast handle setting up a shutterfly account and ordering cards off vistaprint to go in our oot bags.
freaking out!! so much left to do!!!! 59 items on my to do list and 16 pounds to lose before the final dress fitting... AAAHHHH!
OH My gosh I think I am having a heart attack today. 75 days! We are still seeming to get about 1 thing done a day so that should be good but I have yet to notice that my list is getting any smaller! Yesterday we got our flower girl basket and our bird cage painted Ivory. Tomorrow I go pick up the wine for the wedding. A few days ago I did(created the file only) my door hangers for the OOT Bags and I think this is the one thing I am so excited about!
Oh and we have two guys lined up for our Ceremony and Second Line music!!!
What new things have you checked off your list since last week?
This week we:
- Got his tux in for sizing
- Booked another flight for the honeymoon, booked a flight for a shower, booked a flight for his bach. party
- Made an appointment to get my dress sized
- Completed wedding signage
- Scheduled license pick up time with the Officiant
Still need to do this month:
- get flowers, and flower petals ordered
- create name badges for cocktail party
- book wedding night hotel
- book bridal limo
- book flight home
- get my dress sized
- buy OOT bags
- go to a shower
- buy champagne for bridal party attendants
- buy shower and wedding thank you notes
- order guest book
- purchase day after wedding outfit
@lola2011 : You got a good amount done this week! I wish my to do list was as short as your. Wow you have lots of flights. Are you getting married in a town different then the one you live in?
You made me remember that we also went and took FH's pants hemmed also. I made the cards sign for the birdcage and weave ribbon into the cage also. I think this is so far my fav project.
@Nola: My daughter is going to be making the bouquets for me. We are using natural touch flowers, since I am allergic. Our venue provides our centerpeices with crystal and silks, so we are going to use those, instead of purchasing and/or renting those.
I am so far behind on things. I have a meeting with my planner on Friday, a meeting with the bar service we are considering on February 4th and I am taking my oldest son to get fitted for his tux this Friday and my FI doesn't know it yet, but I am taking him for his fitting this Saturday. I am going to try to make cookies tomorrow, but I have been so swamped with work and studies that I will have to see if I can fit it in.
Hi March Bees! Can you beleive how close we are now?? Im so excited. Its funny, last night I was talking to my fiance, and saying I feel like I havent done enough or been crazy enough. I feel like I am missing something in this whole wedding process! HAHA.
As I reviewing everything, its mostly because we had the majority of everything planned before we were even engaged! Our ceremony and reception are at a resort, and its all taken care of.. and what isnt, will be by my wedding coordinator.
One thing that my fiance and I decided was that this was OUR big day, and we werent going to work it to save a few bucks. So, really all we have to do is show up and enjoy every single minute of our beautiful day. Im so excited.
Today, I am off to see my dress for the 1st time. The one I tried on was in a different color and barely fit. So.. This is absolutely thrilling for me.
To you ladies doing a lot of your own stuff, KUDOS! I hope you all have a most fabulous day!!
Cheers to us!
This week we got a few things done thankfully. We sent in the contract for the rental chairs, got our engagement pictures taken, are halfway through to what is now a wooden letter B instead of a thank you sign, made appointments for hair and makeup trial, consultation for groom's cake and favors, and dress fitting, decided on our cake design, will go Monday to take care of the rings, and are about to put our invitations in the mail. I hope tonight to find a lot more of the small things too so we're doing a lot better than we were a week ago.
@Nola: All the flights are because we're destination wedding in Napa, then flying to Miami for two days, then heading to Cartagena Colombia for 7 days, back to Miami and then home!
We are knocking things off like CRAZY! I just spent $100 at Target getting Shower Thank You notes and Wedding Thank You notes, tissue paper for OOT bags, cardstock for OOT welcome message and pens for our "guestbook". I also went in for my dress fiting, ordered the rose petals, ordered the OOT bags, the "guestbook", and a fun detail for our champagne! Also bought a cute shower dress for my first shower coming up in two weeks, and champagne for my girl's gifts. I also called the hotel in Napa for a recommendation for the local cleaner who can press my dress when we arrive and called the cleaner to confirm they do pick up/drop off serivce. OH!!! And I spent last night painting a "b" gold and painting silver thumbtacks (for the seating chart) gold. Yes. I actually painted thumbtacks to match. I have officially jumped the wedding shark!
WOW how many B brides do we have in March? My first name starts with B and my future last name starts with B.
Looks like all of you have made great progress this week. I am trying my best to get multiple things done a day for the wedding. Today I got my Unity Candle and the Memorial proofs approved so that is a double check. Our hotel for the honeymoon was also booked today. Since 3 days ago when I last posted I also managed to write up our ceremony and am pretty excited to get the two page thing written up. However, I still need to write in our vows. I have double checked on our room blocks to see how they are coming along.
I have also had one bridesmaid that dropped out so that has been a thought process over if I should replace her or not. Fun times. We have decided not to have Ushers at all since my cousin (one of two ushers) passed away. We don't want to replace his place and we hadn't asked our second person yet so I guess we will be usherless.
Hey fellow March brides!
I am behind too and totally freaking out. We are FT students, school starts back up on Tuesday, and I had the entire winter break but not really, with 3 kids and Christmas and all... so I got a little done but I still have mega stuff to do and I know once school starts it is going to be REALLY HARD.
So, to do still:
Oh jeez. Can I go cry now? I am sure there's stuff I'm forgetting also. The dashboard on Weddingwire gives me anxiety attacks every time I log in.
Oh gosh, writing this out is either going to help me feel better or totally stress me out, but here goes... items in bold need the most immediate attention....
Oy.....
Okay seriously. How did it get to be 40 days?! Time flies. Huge checkmark this weekend we finally picked out and ordered our wedding bands. We still have to write the ceremony and our vows, rent a video camera, and I'm sure a million things I haven't thought of yet :-/
Let's see, on the docket for February we have:
Confirm deadlines with all vendors
Schedule Mani/Pedi
Complete seating chart
Attend Shower/Bach party
Work out any details on day of timeline that are incomplete.
Thank goodness the list is getting smaller/more fun?
Hmm do we start a new one for Feb like we have been doing or shall we make this one a MILE long
