    Everytime I contact any wedding vendors and tell them my date I get the response, "oh, you have plenty of time!"

    It's quite a confusing reaction considering everyone I speak to is shocked when I say I have a 6 month engagement (which is now closer to 4 months left). Do people just wait until the last minute or something? Anyone else getting this type of reaction?

    I've heard that from most people.  But when I had my cake consultation on Saturday she was actually like "Oh, that's right around the corner!" which was the first time I'd heard that.  I had to replan my whole wedding in August and I didn't even feel like I had time then for people to be telling me that.  When we first talked to the jeweler about my wedding band that he'll be making he was like "Oh March, I figured if you were asking now it'd be the end of the month! You've got time!"

    When I first started looking for vendors, I did hear that, but now that I am down to the final months, I don't hear it as much; probably because I already have 99% of my vendors.

    I haven't really had that respponse surprisingly. However I do live in Vegas so  I guess they're used to planning things months if not years in advance. My ceremony and reception venue isn't too busy, but my photographer is in high demand here so I'm glad I booked hime at the 9 month mark, he already has bookings for 2011 lol. I have everything booked already, but I'd be surprised if now someone was telling me I had a lot of time, almost 4 months isn't a lot of time.

    I went to our florist's open house last weekend and they said they had a bride that waited until 4 WEEKS before her wedding to book a florist. how crazy.

    I booked all of my vendors as early as possible, and I booked the venues a year to 8 months out. When I was booking stuff then people were amazed at how early I was doing it, but I am SO glad it's out of the way. they're booked, and now we can look at details.

    Friends and family are saying it's soon, but vendors say there's plenty of time. I, however, agree with my friends and family! I feel like with the holidays around the corner, a lot of planning will be put on hold. Then, once January rolls around, it'll be 2 months!!! Eeek!!!

    @justeen: Me too!  I keep thinking, oh it's 4 months... yeah well once Christmas is over it'll be 2.  And everyone knows how fast the holidays fly by.  Oh boy.

    yep I live in NYC and I hear that every time I speak to a vendor.  I think they're just used to soothing brides.

    @sleepyrebel: we started doing everything about 9 months to a year in advance and never got any of those comments. However, we have friends getting married in June (so they still have some time), but people/vendors are completely shocked that they literally haven't done one thing aside from choose their venue.

    Maybe it depends on the area you're getting married in? We live in a super populated area, so there are a lot more brides to compete with for vendors.

    @sleepyrebel:

    When doing all of my planning, (since August) I keep hearing "you better book now, thats a real popular time and we book up fast..."
