Here's a thread to keep up with our RSVP counts as they roll in, March bees!
We sent ours out just a week ago, and when I checked the mail today, there were 14 postcards! Yahoo! Granted, we sent out 200+ invitations *breathes into a paper sack* but this is an encouraging start! Ok, it's like a 5% return rate so far, but I love seeing them come in and watching the view count on our website shoot up. :-) *I'm a numbers nerd*
How are you other March bees doing on invites and RSVPs? Not gonna lie, Mr.ND and I were about as excited as Christmas going through this first batch of postcards :-)
Our wedding isn't until the very end of March and the RSVP date is March 2nd. So, I'm shooting to get the invites out by January 13th. That still gives about 6 weeks to return the RSVP. I'm finishing up my DIY envelope calligraphy and my mom is helping me "put together" the layers upon layers of our pocketfold invites. Our goal is to have them out by January 13th!!
I still haven't sent mine out *hangs head in shame* But...we're addressing them tomorrow. That's progress right? Lol.
What was your RSVP date? Ours isn't until Feb. 17.
We're sending out invites next week with an RSVP date of February 11th. Our venue wants a head count 30 days before (I thought that was a little early) so we have to have our RSVP deadline early.
Our invites have not been sent out yet. We're going to Florida next week to be able to finish planning some crucial parts of the wedding. Such as the food tasting... We don't want to send out the invites yet untill we know what food we're serving for sure. We're looking to send them out mid to late Janurary.
@amw511s:You can do it! Your invites sound pretty, you'll have to post a teaser when you guys finish!
@AmeliaBedelia The addressing/stamping was the biggest PITA for us. It's all golden after that :-) Our RSVP deadline was Feb 9th because our venue needs final #s and meal counts two weeks out, and I know we'll need at least 10 days before that to call a LOT of Mr.ND's family. >_>
Sending mine out on Jan. 14th with an RSVP date of Valentine's Day! Can't wait to join in this thread.
@NDBee: Haha, yeah FI's family will be the SAME way. Addressing sounds less than fun at the moment, but I'll get over it. Lol.
Aw man! I want to get in on this thread! My invites aren't going out until the end of January, with RSPV date of March 10th.
My invites go out monday!!!!! they are addressed and just ready to be stuffed and stamped!
Ok QUESTION:: is it bad that i threatned everyone that doesnt RSVP??!!
LOL...I posted a fb status saying that FI i ready to stalk people so please have them in by 2/24.
I wwas dreaded the RSVP part...and the SEATING chart! OMG!!! 2 months left!
My first btch of invites went out the second week of december (destination wedding)....So far I have 41 accepted, 13 declined and 183 guests that are MIA....RSVP date is Fbruary 1st though, so there is still a good month left.
Im so paranoid about this lol! I would like to get ALL RSVP's at once and get it over with! lol
I'm really impressed by all you ladies having already sent out your invitations! You're really on the ball!
@redhead46: Wow, 30 days out is a bit early! Do they let you adjust if you find out later that people can't make it or something came up?
@jude7186: Mmm, food tasting was a fun part! I bet you'll have a blast. :-)
@Stassney: Valentine's day is so cute! I'd hoped to do that, but with school being in session, I couldn't let myself have only a week to call all of his family, lol. I hope that you get LOTS of RSVPs early!
@AmeliaBedelia: I recommend wine. Totally helps. Tehe.
@Stammie16: We'll still be here in late Jan...in fact, I'll probably be fretting by then. LOL.
@MrsStrawberry24: Baaah, seating chart. Why'd you say the 'S' word? :-P Hehehe. No, we made sure to tell people that we saw to get them in SOONER rather than LATER....oooor I'd fiiiiiiind you *wedding crashers, anyone?*
@peacockchris: Oh you've got lots of RSVPs already! I agree, though, I'd love to get one big ol' delivery of 210 postcards. Life would be so eaaasy.
@GreenEyedMoon: Muchas gracias! I think I wanted them crossed off my list because they were sitting on the table staring me in the face. Cake and flowers I don't have to see everyday....so they're not done yet. Oops :-)
Mine are going out right after the new year. I wanted to give the hoilday mail traffic time to die down before sending them out. Our RSVP date is the 13th of Feb. I can't wait to see those little babies come back in!
@NDBee: Does it count if I had wine AFTER? We addressed and stamped/stuffed 90% of them today and then did all kinds of other wedding things today. I needed wine and some Bee Time. (Not Me Time, Bee Time! I'm a dork.)
@NDBee: We have until 1 week before to make adjustments but at the 30 days they pretty much want our final head count and final payment (they would either refund or bill the rest by the Tuesday/Wednesday before the wedding). I thought it was kind of weird but I'm going with it.
I've started addressing ours. We ordered ours off of Etsy. Our RSVP date is Feb 1, 2012. Our venue wants a final headcount 3 days in advance.
Like doily- I wanted to give holiday mail a bit time to die down so we are mailing them this weekend!
Our invites went out today! I wanted to hand cancel them but our post office only allows it during off peak hours M-F 10-2. Today was the last day I would be able to do it without taking off of work. Our rsvp date is Feb. 17th. Hopefully we get some responses next week.
92% of our invites officially went out today! *gulp* So hopefully I can be a PRODUCTIVE member of this thread soon. ;) Instead of the laziness and wine gal.
@Hobokenbride2012: What do you mean by hand cancel? I am unfamiliar with this!
@doily: I had originally planned on that, but I was too darn impatient! LOL. And I cant tell, some folks got them the very next day, and others text me a week later...some told me that they haven't even got theirs yet! Bah. Ooooh well, I'm sure they'll all find their way home :-)
@AmeliaBedelia: Hahah at Bee Time...I like mine as well. And I'm a laziness and wine girl as well. Need to lay off after NYE though, that wedding's coming faster than I'm getting to the gym. Bahaha. I still have 4 or 5 invites in our 'wedding room' (i.e. FMIL's spare room that I took over!) of people that didn't get us their address yet or that we're still not 100% on inviting.
@redhead46: Phew. That's not so unreasonable. Maybe they place your food order from their supplier 30 days out.
@lawgirl12: 3 days?! I'm so jealous. But I know myself, I'd wait until the 11th hour. Love your name, are you currently in school or already out?
@Hobokenbride2012: Yay for not having to miss work! I agree with @love108:, can you describe what they all have to do to hand cancel? I thought it had something to do with not putting them through the machines, but I wasn't sure what it all entails and how much extra it cost.
@love108: @NDBee: Hand cancelling the invites means you physically put the postmark over the stamp yourself. It saves the invites from being run through machines and getting torn up and from those ugly black marks. It makes the invites arrive looking prettier for lack of a better word. It also insures your invites are treated with a little extra care. There is no extra charge for it. Some post offices do not allow it however. Out of the 3 in our town only 1 will allow it. Our post office gave us the stamp and let us do it ourselves on the side. I looked up a picture so you can see the difference. The left one was run through a machine and the right one was hand cancelled. I highly recommed it if it's possible.

We got a bit crazy and sent ours out at the beginning of December for a few reasons: 1) it's quasi-destination; 2) wanted to avoid the Christmas card rush; and 3) wanted to be able to do a B list without having to print two sets of reply cards. So far we've got over 30 RSVPs for our just over 120 person list, and cleared a few people off our B list as a result. We got a lot back almost immediately but seem to have entered a lull over the holidays, which is fair enough.
@Hobokenbride2012: When I took our invites to the post office to see how much they weighed ($1.28 each plus $0.44 for the RSVP envelope... eeeek!), they put it through a test cardboard sleeve which was the same size as the machine they would have to put it through to cancel the stamp. Our invites were too thick and didn't fit through the cardboard sleeve, so they must be hand canceled. Even if they did fit, I would have requested that they be hand canceled. As far as I know, they don't charge extra for this.
I am sending our invitations out tomorrow! I think the RSVP deadline is Feb 18th but that's what the invitation people told us to do. I actually never asked the reception/caterer when they need the final count by...woops
Thank you all so very very much for making me feel so very behind.. lol my wedding is March 24. Im thinking Im not going to send the invites out until Feb 1st. and put a March 1st RSVP date. but that could change.. Im DIYing them and I embossed the outer pocketfold today but I still have so much left to do.. guess Ill go do some of that.
@amw511s: I think the extra charge for hand canceling is included in your postage if it's something you have to do given size/shape of your invites.
You just reminded me of how the lady at the post office was banging away at our invites making sure they bent properly... I guess if it doesn't bend to some extent it can't go through the machine?
@jules0580: Don't feel bad my invites aren't out yet and won't be going out for several more weeks with RSVP date of 10 March! I'm just antsy to see the March invite thread started because I want to join in LOL.
Ok update!
To date, I got 77 attending, 38 not attending and 127 guest still to respond. However most of the 127 are all part of my second batch of invites which will be sent out today! (we sent the first batch of invites to out of town guests early in December, the second batch of invites is for in town guests)
We are right on track!
I am getting extra excited about the wedding!!!
Woohoo, it's fun to see so many March brides joining in :-) I think some of our invites are STILL finding their way to the right mail box...I keep getting a random text or message about how cute our invites are, making me think that they just got it (2 weeks from send out?!). Eep.
I'm down with Mr.ND for my break, so my mail is on hold at my apartment. I can't wait to get up there Monday and go through the next batch of RSVPs. I'm almost pathetically excited for it, hahaha.
Just finished ours, getting stamps today and they will be out of the house within 72 hours! They must RSVP by Valentines day!
You go ladies!!
I'm planning on having my invites out by Jan. 11th and the RSVP for Feb. 11th but I'm super behind!! This is going to be a long week!! Congratulations to the girls that have theirs done and out!! Awesome job!!
Got my first RSVP card today. It was a yes! Some people still haven't gotten the invites yet.
im soooo behind. i just received my proofs and hate the fonts. can anyone tell me what type of font they used and if they used one for the entre invite or two? HELP!!!
@ilyesq: I'm making my invites and I used freebooter and Hanna. Try going to Fonts101.com. There you can look at and download fonts. Good luck.
@ilyesq: I used Ambassador Script for my invites and I just LOVE it. But I ordered them. The script isn't free to download though.
I liked Freebooter too though!
We've got 8 yeses (sp?) and 1 no so far!
We made it easy on our guests - in addition to RSVP cards, we created an email account for those who would prefer to email their RSVP... it's pretty enjoyable to see what people are writing in their messages.
We have 5 back so far! Totalling 13 people. We sent invites out last Saturday basically. :)
I sent our out on Tuesday and I got my first reply back today! My deadline is Feb. 20 but I'm hoping people reply sooner than later.
UPDATE!!!!!
We sent out our invitations today!!! 168 invites and rsvps card (336 stamps.... $147.84). the lovely old lady hand stamped all of my invitations for us! she was so sweet! So we are patiently waiting....hopefully by nest week we will start seeing responses. here are our invites!! we went through vistaprint and we found a coupon for %50 off our entire purchase! so we got 200 invites, 200 response cards, envelopes and return labels for less than $200!!!!
here are our invitations:
our rsvp date is fed 24th....which will give us more than enough time to hunt down those stragglers
