are you going for a whole Japanese theme or is the venue the only Japanese influenced part? If its the only thing than I think a mariachi will be fine. If everything will be Japanese influenced then I think a mariachi might be out of place and you should consider Japanese drummers of something like that.
I think you should be okay then...go for it..mariachis are fun
I had a mariachi at the Cheesecake Factory I'm sure you'll be fine with a mariachi at your venue. Rock out your heritage.
I love the mariachiidea! I want one too!! Your venuw is lovely and I think a mariachi there would be splendid.

FI and I have always been fascinated with Japanese art and culture, so we booked our venue at the Kyoto Grand Hotel. My only question is how do I fit in a latin band with Japanese a themed hotel? I would really like to have mariachis or a latin jazz band play for cocktail hour. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can incorporated my latino traditions? Is mariachi too much?
Here's a pic of the hotel so you can get a feel.
