At 29 days out (yesterday) we went down to the County Clerk's office and applied for our marriage license. 10 minutes, and $115 later, we are the proud holders of . . . a receipt to pick up the actual marriage license next week. Stupid 6 day waiting period.

Things really started feeling real after that trip. One step closer!

Congrats!  I remember getting the license was the first thing we did that felt REALLY official.

gahhhh!!!  my FI and I have to get that done 2 days before the wedding.  and pay the extra $25 fee to forego the 6 day waiting period since we get into town Sept 15th and are getting married the 18th (we qualify since we live out of state).  AND, if we don't get it on the 16th for some crazy reason, then we are sh*t out of luck because the Dane County Clerks Office will be on furlough on September 17th.  booo!!  This makes me nervous!

Was it a long wait to get the license goldilocks?

I got mine almost 2 months ago now! It's been locked up in the safe since then. I was hoping to get to go to a court house and have something all official, but we had to go to a local drug store insurance section and pay $100. Boring!

It felt pretty exciting to have the actual piece of paper though. :)

Whoa, that is expensive!  And takes awhile, what the heck?  But the 6 days will fly and it'll feel so strange and real all at the same time.  Cool stuff!

Yikes 115??? ours was 40!  Maybe there is an area where we can get some more income for our county.

Anyways, totally out of left field, sorry.

But CONGRATS.  it's a cool feeling, eh?  Nice to hold that piece of paper in your hands!

Yay for you! We're 13 days to the wedding and we won't have the time to get the license until 5 days before the wedding! :O So...Aug 30 we'll head down to the courthouse, shell out $90, and get a piece of paper! Yay!

We got ours on Thursday! Well, technically we applied for it, and it should arrive next week, thanks to the 3-day waiting period. Ours was $75 and also took around 10 minutes, which was 50 minutes less than I thought it would take.

We got ours on July 16th! We are allowed to get ours up to 60 days before the wedding and had taken that day off to drive to a friends wedding so we got it that day so we didn't have to take more time off of work to go down to the courthouse.

@denverbirdlet: No wait at all. We popped in at 2pm on Thursday and were out by 2:10pm on Thursday. You should be fine. We literally were in and out so fast, we didn't have to pay to park in the parking ramp.

@midwestbride: I am so jealous. Yeah, the county we live in is the most expensive county in the state, I believe. So "lucky".
