I'm in Alberta and its the same here. But our registry office isn't in a drug store :-) I believe in Canda we have to get a marriage licence and a certificate. Does that sound right?
Yeah, that sounds right. In BC it's sometime within 3 months of the wedding that you have to get those things.
I just thought it would be more official than wandering into your local London Drugs :)
Yeah I think it's within 3 months here too. Must be a Canada thing lol.
Can't blame you there... Can you go to a bigger registry office that isn't in a drug store to make it more official?
Haha, it doesn't really matter. It's still good no matter where it comes from. In BC they're all in insurance broker offices, so other ones are just in the mall, or strip malls, even if you wanted to drive into Vancouver or something. I was just surprised it's so casual. Very BC...
Wait, people get pics for picking up their marriage license???? Oh man...
I think some people just take a snapshot, especially the wedding bee bloggers who like to add a photo to their blog entries when they talk about picking up their licences.
hehe when we went to Hawaii last year there was a sign outside a little house that said "marriage licenses" ... everyone started teasing me and FI we should stop in (this was before we were even engaged). You could still get some fun pictures though!
We didn't take pictures when we got ours. Just make sure you don't take pictures next to the condoms or something.
Yeah, I thought it was quite weird when our Parish Priest told us that we get the marriage license either from Coast Capital or London Drugs. After getting the license from London Drugs, we ended up taking pictures in the car.
that's so interesting! i don't know exactly how it works in ontario where i'm from. we'll be getting legally married at the canadian embassy here in seoul. i've been wondering if they allow pictures in the embassy because i would love some sort of cheesy shot with the random official that pronounces us 'husband and wife'

I was reading the posts by some of the bees about going to pick up their marriage licences from the courthouse.
I was surprised to find out that in British Columbia you apply for a marriage license at an insurance office, and in my city it's inside the drug store!
So, I guess our "picking up our marriage license" pictures will be a little different from our American friends.
