We had the same situation and had to get ours in the county where we got married. Not sure if it is different state-by-state though. You could check with your officiant or you could call the county and ask.
It's usually only valid in the county you are getting married in. Call and make sure since every location may have different laws.
Definitely check the specific laws in your state. Massachusetts allowed us to get a marriage license in any county in the state.
Check the laws of your state - in CA if you want a private license you have to apply for the license in the county you are going to be married. We did a public license which is most common and we could get it in any county - we went to Orange County for the license and got married in LA County.
As the other folks said, you want to check with your state. I believe here, you need to get the license in the county in which you're getting married, but that might not be the case everywhere.
I would get the license in the county that you are getting married in, but again, double check if it would even matter which county you got it in.
We had this same delimma, We applied for the license in the county we live in and got married one county over. Everything was fine and normally theres isnt a problem with it unless its out of state or across the state, Its always good to ask first, The people at the county clerks office where you get your license should be able to help you out.
I would absolutely check with your state. It didn't matter what county we got our marriage license in, so we just did it in the one we lived in.
I would check with the state like others have said. In CO, you can get your marriage license in any county.
Ditto what others said...it varies state by state. In OR you could get the license in any county.
I think in general you're pretty safe getting your license where you're getting married.

Really not sure on this one. We live in one county in Florida, but the place where we're getting married is one county over. Which one do we get the license from? Does it matter since it's in the same state?
