I thought about doing this, but decided against it. It is possible, but I think there are a lot of difficult logistics to work out. First off, you only get a very limited amount of time (3 hrs, I think) and that includes set up, ceremony, breakdown. Parking and traffic are other major logistical concerns. Tourists are also a concern. After my wedding, DH and I went into to DC with our photographer for a photo op near some of the monuments. Tourists kept gathering around and I felt like a zoo animal (lol) but they did stay out of our way.
I think it is possible to do it, but it will take a lot of planning and organizing. It might be a good idea to look for a DOC with experience doing this kind of ceremony.
I looked into having a wedding under the Cherry Blossoms, but it turned into too much work.
This bee did have a Cherry Blossom wedding though, so maybe you could PM her.

HI! I'm wondering about the logistics of getting married at a Washington monument. I know that there are only 3 places you can get married: Jefferson memorial, George Mason memorial or DC World War I. However, I'm interested to know more about people's experience with getting married by a memorial or attending a ceremony there. We are thinking about exchanging vows at a memorial, but I'd stil have walk down an aisle type thing. Just wondering if its possible at all or are there way too many tourists or will it be too disorganized? Any input would be great! Thank you much!
