We didnt'--my husband and I both hate that tradition. We fed each other very gently and I thought it was one of the sweeter moments of the reception.
Absolutely not.
We cut the cake, put the piece on a plate and fed each other with a fork.
no, we didn't. although DH picked up a bite sized for him (aka HUGE) while i fed him a tiny bite so i did get more cake than i could handle!
I think smashing it ruins the moment and makes a mess. I also think it is disrespectful to eachother. Many people go right from cake cutting into father/daughter dance, and I wouldn't have wanted cake on my face for that.
Nope, I know he was tempted but saw the look on my face and thought better of it! i just saw pics from someone else's wedding on FB and they COVERED each others faces in frosting. Like, forehead to chin covered. I would've been pissed.
My hubby joked that it would be awesome to smash cake in my face, but I told him no way--I didn't want that sweet moment turned into a messy cake war. That being said, I made him feed me first so that I could get him back if he didn't listen to the "rules." :D

I kind of look like I'm shoving it down his throat LOL
No, he knows that would not have ended well for him
No. My husband did a little dab of frosting, but that was about it. I've also seen pics of couples covered in frosting which is just unattractive and not cool. I thought that there's a superstition where if you smashed cake together, you might divorce. It's something like that.
No way... I didnt spend all that time and money doing my make up to ruin it! and considering how expensive and tasty the cake was, I didnt wanna waste any of it either!!
Haha... well we didn't... but then all of our family started yelling "come on, get him!" and I ended up sticking my finger in the icing and smearing it on his face. Teehee. He was kind of shocked. :)

No - we didn't. I wasn't about to let anything ruin my make up - and neither of us wanted cake anywhere but in our mouths.
Funny side note cake story - DH thought he was supposed to feed himself instead of me (much like toasting). It was hilarious when he almost took a bite and I said: HEY!! That's for ME!!!!!
We did and I don’t regret it one bit. Prior to our cake cutting I was strictly in the “absolutely not” camp but in the heat of the moment (and at the urge of nearly everyone standing in the front row), we did it and it was great. I took what was left on the plate (a very small piece) and ever so lovingly smashed it against DH’s face. Our guests LOVED it. He was about to do it to me but I think he saw the horror on my mothers face so instead he just pulled me in for a kiss which still ended up being pretty messy. At that point I had already sweat off most of my makeup from dancing so it really wasn’t a big deal. A few minutes later we were in our photo booth with a bunch of our friends and one of my BM’s husbands brought DH some of his cake for retaliation. He wiped frosting on my cheeks and we called a truce. :)

Nope! My mother n law had a talk with me and she made it very clear she wanted none of that lol
We weren't going to do that anyway as we don't like that but she was like "umm no" haha
@Crisark: ha! my mom has said for years and years that she would be so pissed if I did that at my wedding because our pastor had said it's so disrespectful to do to your new spouse.
We didn't mostly cause I didn't want to deal with cake mess, but DH wanted to. I said multiple times that he be hanging with Rosie Palmer that night if he did, and he must have gotten the hint because he didn't do it! I think I had him feed me first too like a PP said - just in case!
Just a tad. It was really funny! I waited until he fed me nicely and then I smushed it a bit on him. haha
I really wanted to just dab a little on his nose, but he wasn't having it.

I admit, I smushed a little bit. I had to! The temptation was too great. But, I was expecting it from him and he was nice.
I am not married yet, but there will be no cake smashing. My mom will be livid if it happens and she will probably chew my fiance out in the middle of the reception. I feel that it's disrespectful and not something I wanted anyway, so it's not a big deal. I told my fiance he is allowed to put frosting on my nose (we have a nose thing) but that's it.
@hisgoosiegirl: lol DH and I laughed the night before about it cause we knew if we even dared his mom would have been up there yelling or something lol So we were good kids :)
We didn't, but I was worried he was going to, so I was making weird faces the entire time, lol.

No, no, no!!! I have already said smashed face is off limits. He is quite the prankster so here's hoping.
We did.. I didn't want to of course, but he made it clear that it was going to happen anyway, but he was nice about it and got it on my nose, until I got him twice and he wiped the chocolate on his face all down the side of my face lol.. It actually ended up being fun though..

I joked about it beforehand but we really didn't even though it may look like it in our pic. We just both decided to go for it at the same time.

I did to him, after he took a bite, he knew better than to do it to me!

We did not.
It was a sweet moment, and it would've been ruined if frosting had been smeared on my dress or his tux in a slightly passive-aggressive wedding tradition that I don't get. I understand placing a little frosting on each others noses or something, but we've seen weddings where cake is smeared in hair, up nostrils, on dresses/tuxes - who wants to watch that or finds it entertaining??
I'm not married yet but I'm really hoping FI doesn't. Although I think he'll want to so I might not have a choice :P Too bad he doesn't even like cake that much or I'd use the "waste of cake" argument- he absolutely loves smashing cake into people at parties.
I swear he's not mean, lol. He just thinks it's hilarious... *eye roll*
I'm not even married yet, but I voted no because if he does that, then I'm getting the marriage annulled the next day, hahaha.
