I voted 2 months but really I got them done about 2 weeks after the wedding. But I have 10 left to write and I haven't done them yet because I hadn't gotten the gift. A group went in on a gift for us and gave us a card at the wedding telling us about the gift. So I plan to write the thank you cards when I get the gift.
I was terrible and didn't get ours sent until like 4 months later! My mom had to badger me like three times before I finally sat down and did them!
They were written and sent the week after we got back from our honeymoon. So, less than a month. I figured it was just better to crank them out all at once.
Well ours didn't actually go out until about a month and a half after the wedding. BUT.. they were only delayed because we did picture cards so I had to wait to receive my edited CD's from my photographer and then wait for the cards to arrive once I was able to order them. Once the cards were at me house it took me less then a week to get them all out. I was pretty upset that it took that long but my mom said she had a few different people say they were surprised to get the card so quickly. One lady had been to a wedding SEVEN months ago and still not received a card. So I felt better about that!
We sent out all our thank yous for the presents received before the wedding as soon as we received them so we didn't get behind. We were able to get the thank yous out for the wedding the week after the wedding (since we didn't go on a honeymoon).
@moose that makes me feel better! We mailed the ones we wrote, but I am so bad about motivating mylself to get the rest of them done!
I'm not married yet.... but I went to a wedding last June and have yet to receive a thank you card. I mailed a gift off the registry to their home in Arizona and then gave them a card with $100 at the wedding. Just a little something to make all the bees who posted about getting them done in a few months and feeling bad about it feel better.
This is interesting. I'm not married yet, but write thank you notes for gifts (wedding and shower gifts) as soon as we get them. I'm hoping this makes it much easier on us after the wedding.
@Moose, I did the exact same thing, I was so antsy that it was taking so long to get the pictures and then get the cards, but I got them all written and sent within about 1-2 weeks of receiving the cards. You just gotta force yourself to do it. I also had people surprised they got ours so quick. A friend of a friend sent theirs on their 1 year anniversary. I thought that was pretty tacky. One of my friends took about 6 months... too long IMHO. But to each his own, right?
