I'm all about getting my beauty sleep every night. I need my 7-8 hours of sleep. I'm worried the night before my wedding I won't be able to get some rest because of the excitement. Tell me, how did it go? How about the days leading up to it?

Hahaha not good for me, unfortunately. I NEED my sleep, and I didn't get much in the few days leading up to the wedding, and the night before. I was practically falling asleep in the make-up chair! I blame my MOH, who shared a room with me and spent HOURS texting her boyfriend in another province, gigling and laughing. I wasn't too impressed.

I would recommend, if you can, to boot everyone out of your house and get to bed early.

haha. It's a inside joke in my family & friends that I can sleep anywhere and everywhere and under any circumstances. Night before the wedding included! :D

But my MOH & SIL/BM didn't get any sleep because they were so excited!

Not married yet, but was recently a BM. The bride hadn't gotten much sleep the week of the wedding due to the stress and getting all the little things done. The night of us girls stayed with her.. she was worried that she wouldn't sleep due to nervousness, but was so exhausted from the week's activities that she had 1 glass of wine and passed out on the couch! We of course woke her up and tucked her into her bed, but she said she slept like a baby!

I'm not married yet, but I am planning on relying on sleeping pills for the weeks before.

I slept like a baby everynight before the wedding...,mind you , I wasnt stressed and everything was going really well. The night before i was up late, my sister and i had gone to a park to pick some "free" flowers for the church and then i neded up talking to her for a bit...then i texted my future husband for about a half hour *laugh*

I got maybe 3 hours of sleep. And not in a row. I was so excited! Plus DH was staying somewhere else. I think if I had to do it again we would have stayed together. Or I would have taken something to help me sleep.

I'm already having trouble sleeping!  And I'm constantly dreaming!

I worry myself way too much, my mind never wants to shut off.  I'm hoping I'll be able to get in 5 hours of sleep at least!  Maybe I'll take a valium!

I slept well until about 4a.m. when I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. I was way too excited about getting married that I couldn't sleep a little longer until 8:30a.m. before hair and makeup appointments. I really don't know how I functioned from 7a.m. until 4a.m. the next day on such little sleep. Luckily, our hotel let us check out late because we really didn't get out of the hotel until 2p.m. on October 11th.

I slept in a hotel room by myself and I had worried for a long while about being able to sleep that night. My thoughts for months were so consumed with wedding stuff that I would have a hard time shutting my brain off to sleep and if I woke up in the middle of the night my thoughts would go right back to the wedding, however the night before I slept like a baby! I got into bed early, after the rehearsal, and just watched tv. I fell asleep around midnight and didn't wake up until 8:30

After the rehearsal dinner, we got back to our hotel at around 11 and while I was excited, I was also very, very calm.  I slept like a rock.

@loveknows: Ooh I'm scared of this also. One of the last things I want is to look super tired on my wedding day!

    I'm nervous about this too!

My best friend who got married a year and a half ago slept like a rock the night before. We slept at her parents house with all of the BMs, and she got the best sleep out of all of us! I think she fell asleep around 10 and we got up at 8. Not bad!

I usually have a problem sleeping when I'm anxious, but I'm going to be doing soooo much setup before the wedding that I'm sure I'll be exhausted.

I still can't sleep the on Christmas Eve. And if there is anything I have to be at at a specific tim or any reason I have to set an alarm in the morning for somthing other than class I can't sleep. Heck, I can't sleep now thinking about everything that still needs to be done and we are 4 months out!!! I will definately need something to sleep.

I'm with Kate on this one: I'm gonig to have some Tylenol PM on hand just in case... maybe try a glass of red wine first though, and resort to Tylenol if that doesn't work. We're renting beach houses, so there will be  A TON of people crammed into them, so I'll prob. be tempted to stay up with them. Who knows? I just can't wait until all the fesitivities go down!

I lacked sleep the night before, but due to circumstances rather than excitement.  One couple had an issue with their flight, and didn't get in until about 5:00 AM.  We had brought their dog with us, so before we knew how long the delay would be, we were trying to stay up until they arrived.  We finally just ended up taking their dog and our own dog to bed with us--which was just a bit crowded in a double bed.  ;-)

@napabridekelsey, when my best friend got married almost 3 years ago, her and I slept at her parents house. Actually, I spooned my best friend the night before she got married because her brother was supposed to be home that night and wasn't. My bestie slept alot better than I did on the night before my wedding. Her mom was awesome in providing razors when I showered and fed us before her. My parents did the same when we came back to my parent's house with sandwiches and food for us on the wedding day. Ahh, wonderful memories.

I slept like a baby. Everything was in good hands, and we were *exhausted* after a long and very fun rehearsal dinner, and the mad dash of the week leading up to the wedding with finishing everything up!

I did NOT sleep well. I actually cried quite a bit because I was so worried because my groom had a mysterious flu-like illness and I was afraid he wouldn't even be able to speak to say the vows!

Hell no, I was too excited. I kept waking up and got maybe four hours of sleep total. I was sooooo tired the day of our wedding!

Nope. But no worse than any other night where I couldn't sleep, like before taking a big exam, or starting a new job, or needing to catch an early flight.

@Ms Hedgehog: SAME HERE! Well, maybe the last year or so when I haven't been home/in my childhood room for Christmas. But when I'm back there I totally can't sleep.

The whole week leading up to the wedding, I was running on adrenaline. I'm like you - I need 7-8 hours to be happy, and I don't think I got more than 4-5 hours of sleep any night that week, and I didn't feel it at all.

Night before the wedding I probably got about that much sleep, 4 or 5 hours (don't exactly remember now; all I remember is waking up super early and being annoyed that my parents were still asleep so I couldn't do laundry, which is directly next to their bedroom, because I needed to wash the last few things to pack for the honeymoon, haha).

I was totally fine until we sat down for dinner at the reception - then a weeks worth of lost sleep caught up to me in one big rush and I could've fallen asleep right there at the table if I (and Mr DDW) had let myself/me. :)

I got married at 9 am. The few days beforehand, I slept very little because of so much to do (Packing, the playlist, checking my packing, entertaining family) and I was beyond exhausted the night before. I had to straighten my hair, so I was up till 12. All my cousins told me to take benadryl, but because I had to get up at 3:45, I worried about being groggy. I'd had a glass of wine and I was unbelievably tired, so I figured I would be fine.

I was not. I didn't sleep for an hour and a half, and just after I drifted off, elevator music from the elevator next to my hotel room started drifting through the room. My BM went downstairs to ask the front desk to turn it down, and not to call. He called at 1:45 in the morning, waking all 8 girls in the room to tell us he couldn't turn it off. I didn't sleep but maybe 10 minutes the night before my wedding and I definitely cried about it. :-)

I actually didn't sleep until after our first day in Paris, the next day, because we left directly for the airport from the wedding, and had three alternating crying/screaming/kicking kids in the rows immediately in front of and behind us on the 8 hour plane ride. We arrived in Paris and spent the day sightseeing and visiting with some friends in town before crashing and burning. You want to talk about two tired honeymooners!

my advice-- TAKE THE BENADRYL. Someone will wake you up!
