How close did your wedding come to your inspiration boards? Have you ever looked at a collage of your wedding day photos in comparison to the inspiration boards? Did you nail it? I'd love to know/SEE....
Thanks. I'm not married yet and I've already noticed my current inspiration boards are MILES away from my early ones. LOL. Wonder how close brides actual days are to what they originally want and envision. Hope we get lots of responses...
I never made an inspiration board... But my wedding turned out just the way I imagined it.

No inspiration board. I didn't want to be disappointed if I couldn't have some of the ideas on the board. So I just bought what I wanted and it all fit together perfect.
This post is such a great idea! I'm on my third version of inspiration board, each a complete departure from the previous...would love to see feedback from married 'bees. Thanks, bluebonnet! Your real wedding looks very true to your original board :)

We actually did have some drink dispensers with water in them, but no one took them out until later and I have no pictures of them.

Ha, it's funny to see this thread today. My wedding is not for several months yet, but I just put together a second board with our actual selections to compare it to the original board today!

Well, I never did a full inspiration board although I collected pictures throughout the 18 months I was engaged. The plan was always brown, cream, champage and pops of orange for colors. I also knew early on that I wanted to have peach centerpieces.
Here are a few of inspiration and my wedding pictures for comparison!

@Brianalaura:Looks dead on to me. I'm doing a dessert buffet(cakes, cupcakes, pies, cheesecakes, brownies, and blondies) too instead of a traditional wedding cake!! Yaayy!! How did your guests like it?

@katieebee: The guests loved the cake/pie buffet. We did it as "serve yourself" and it worked out really well. Even my mom, who was skeptical, loved it in the end. Plus we didn't have to pick just a couple of flavours, we got to have lots!
@katieebee: The peaches were a favorite part of my wedding! We bought the vases wholesale and then ordered 200 peaches from a nicer local grocery store chain. The peaches were ready for pick-up the day before the wedding. We used the peaches for our center pieces, to decorate cocktail table, gift table etc etc
I also bought paper lunch bags and set them on all of the reception tables. We also made signs that asked people to take a peach or two home with them. There were none left at the end of the night and I got great compliments on the peaches!
I think you could do this with green apples as well!
I would say that ours came out pretty similar.
The biggest things that changed was the centerpieces and flowers. We ended up with hydrangeas.
@Brianalaura:I think that is one of my faves so far. Although it seems pretty popular in the "wedding world" I myself have never been to a wedding where they had a selection of desserts vs. traditional wedding cake. I don't think any of my guests will have experienced it beforehand either! Exciting!

Ohhhh magilnyc: Your wedding was absolutely breathtaking. Very glam. And almost exactly like your inspiration board. My wedding is deep purple, black, and white. I'm thinking of adding a red rose bouquet and red shoes under my dress just for the added drama. Not quite sure yet. But the flowers in your wedding are sooo lush! Thanks so much for sharing.
@katieebee: Thank you so much. I love the idea of park purple with a splash of red. I am a total sucker for red roses (obviously). Now that my wedding is over, I am obsessed with helping my engaged friends make inspiration boards. Turns out nobody I know has ever heard of one. I am now the self-proclaimed ambassador of inspiration boards in NYC :-)
These are very cool to look at. Unfortunately I can't contribute because I never had an inspiration board. I didn't really plan any of the details, they just kinda came together that day. Guess I was only concerned about how I would look, haha. I saw my MOH's dress (she picked it) and our flowers (florist picked them with some very general guidance) for the first time that day, I had no idea what they would look like!

@magilnyc:I hadn't heard of an inspiration board until WB and planning either. I'm sure I'll be using it to incorporate in other planning aspects of my life for years to come!!

@katieebee: LOL, not Princess. Try lazy :) I picked the vendors myself and paid for everything myself, but I have neither the aesthetic eye for these kinds of things nor the patience. I'm a simple practical girl, I crunch numbers for a living, so all these pretty girly things are not up my alley. It was more like "keep it under this budget, and please do something nice and tasteful". I didn't even have a color scheme - I'm the ultimate non-bridezilla! I do like looking at them here though, all the Bees are craftier than I am.
I didn't create an inspiration board, but I went through my wedding journal and grabbed photos of the things that had originally caught my mind and created one today. Truth be told, my goal was to have a blue/white/silver wedding that somehow reflected my husband and I. So here's what might have been my inspiration board:
