- Wedding: July 2014
Here’s the deal. My fiance and I are planning on legally becoming married asap before our ceremony next year. We are young couple (22/23) but work very hard – and being married would be a great help to us financially. Neither of us recieve assistance from parents. We already share our lives together so this would just help us out.
Now, I do not want to feel like its a secret. If we do this, I will wear my ring proudly and take his name. But our families still want us to have the big wedding (we originally wanted to elope anyway). Would it be socially acceptable to call this a celebration of our marriage instead? We will write our own vows in comparison to the legal ceremony, and incorporate our families and God.
Would you as a guest feel jipped?
