Weirdest present we got was toilet paper.

My best friend lives in Japan and she gave us, amoung other things, 4 rolls of toilet paper which are made to look like a Japanese wedding couple 😛 We have decided to use one roll every anniversary for the next 4 years, haha

We were given a Celtic Marriage Blessing cross stitch in a gigantic frame from my aunt. Neither of us are Irish. My aunt doesn’t cross stitch.

It matches the colors in my library so thats where it is hanging.

Can’t say we got anything truly strange, but there were a few people who got us nothing – not even a card. I understand not being able to afford a gift. But not even to give a card (even a hand made one!) seems weird to me.

Of the gifts we did receive, I think the one that was most odd to us was a silver candle snuffer. I think it might be a southern thing, and being that we are not southern it was weird to us. We now own a silver candle snuffer! For all our candle snuffing needs.

This. A gift from a friend of my mom’s. Generous, lovely woman we had not even invited – a woman I know to have lovely taste, who went to a gift shop and for some reason picked out this. We don’t understand what in the world it’s for (a painted tile? for display?), or why she thought we’d like it. It is not remotely like anything we registered for, all of which is a mix of woodsy Pottery Barn stuff mixed with Traditional Home, Victorian aesthetic. We call it The Clown Tile, and DH is counting the days until he can accidentally drop it.

we got a few that elicited a WTF response from us.  But the most interesting by far was this piece of “art”.  It’s a painting on glass with swarovsky crystals.  This thing is huge as well. We figured it was cheap and we’d just throw it out.  But then we looked it up and it cost over $300!!!

We got a couple strange gifts, that were clearly re-gifts. The weirdest was a candy dish shaped like a Hershey kiss… We looked it up online and found it at listed for $10 at Macy’s. We didn’t even bother to bring it back to NY with us! Lol

man we didn’t get any weird stuff.  All the things that were off registry were thoughtful and/or cool.  (And now suddenly that’s a bad thing bahahaha)  I love that swarovski thing.  THat’s hilarious!

@ProfessorGirl:  do you think that tile is supposed to be used as a trivet? that’s the only thing I can think of.
