And not in a “we started dating and now he’s my best friend” kind of way. In a “we had a long platonic close/BFF friendship and then one day, BOOM it became romantic” kind of way.
Anyone else? I feel like our story is a bit of a rom-com script. You know, boy meets girl, best friendship ensues for a number of years, then one day girl goes from “ew he’s like my brother” to “haaaaaay I wanna marry you” literally in one instant… Cmon, I can’t be the only one?!

@bkrocks13: I had always been in love with my guy. From the day I met him, I felt this weird connection to him. He considered me his best friend, and experienced thebsudden shift in feeling that you describe.
So in short, he friendzoned me, lol.

@bkrocks13: We have something like that! We met at work and became very good friends – and remained very good friends for over a year. He asked me out about 3 times before I said yes – I didn’t want to ruin our friendship! Now we’re getting married in 5 weeks and I love that he was so persistant – I could have missed out on a really great thing.

That is us, we met when were were 18. We were best friends, I even dated his close friend for about a year and half at one point. He was always the person I went to when things went bad and vice versa. He says he always knew he had feelings for me, mine were more on and off. I liked him when we first met and a few years later when we got very close before we graduated but we had terrible timing. He had a girlfriend or I had a boyfriend. He found out I was single and decided to not wait any longer and confessed it all to me one night. I honestly didnt know what to do. I mean yea I liked him but I was so afraid of ruining the friendship we had. I flipped pretty quickly back to the yea he is the one I meant to be with. I never would have agreed to date him if I didnt think I would marry him.

@bkrocks13: Yup, totally. We were really good friends in high school and then BAM!, one day I was head over heels in love. I thought I was flirting enough to get the message across, but apparently not for a clueless teenage boy. I was too shy to be direct and had pretty much given up hope after like a year, but then he was away on a month-long and had the same BAM! moment. We got together when he got back. That was…. like 14 years ago!

FI and I were really good friends for about 6 months before we started dating (it was our freshman year of college). Apparently, he liked me, but I didn’t realize (and wasn’t interested in having a boyfriend), and then later, I liked him and he just wanted to have fun! Finally, we got the timing right and have been together ever since.

We were aquaintances for the longest time before anything romantic ever happened. So we’re more like a “When Harry Met Sally…” story than anything else!
