Fellow Bees!FI (Army Officer) and I are currently in the process of creating our dream list for our next move. We’re currently at Ft. Drum, NY and we hate it! Two of our options now are Ft. Bragg, NC and Ft. Campbell, KY. Any of you bees ever lived here or know anything about the posts? DH and I have done our research on the military side but we want to hear from “real” people and their experiences/opinions. Thanks!

@ArmyBeee: BRAGG!!!! Campbell is truly in the middle of nowhere. My ex was stationed there and it’s the kind of place where if you don’t like to socialize with your Army brethren, then you aren’t going to have any friends. Whereas Bragg is at least close to non-Army civilization.
Plus, Fayetteville is home to the Carolina Trash Hash House Harriers. DH and I met as hashers in DC (it’s a sport that mixes running with drinking beer and potty humor), and the Trashers are some of the craziest most awesome mofos that ever lived. We’d love to be stationed at Bragg 🙂

My brother was at both. He loved Bragg and Hated Campbell while my sil hated Bragg and loved Campbell. I know housing in KY was much easier to find off base and they got a lot of house for a lot less then what they paid for a tiny apartment in NC. Also, my sil had a very hard time finding a job (actually never did) in NC but found one in KY right away. According to my brother, NC was better for his career which is why he would go back without hesitation.

Thanks, ladies! I’ve heard so many things about both but it’s still hard to decide. Bragg is also close to the beach so that is a plus too. @tksjewelry: I’ve heard it’s good for careers too 🙂 we’re small town people so maybe Campbell wouldn’t be bad.

i dont know about fort bragg necessarily but i know that the air force side of things, pope, is known as no-hope-pope….and fayetteville has nothing but a horrible reputation….just saying….
