Weddingbee boards

I am so happy to have discovered weddingbee! and the fact that there is a queer focused forum makes it all the better!

My gf proposed in June, and we are getting hitched next August. I never understood the point of long engagements before, but now I do. There is so much to plan and save for!

We've been together just over three years, living together for two, so we know this works. I feel so blessed to be planning such a big event, and such a major rite of passage, with this incredible woman.

So far we agree on everything. It's crazy. I mean, sure minor disagreements over attire, and what's our song, but we still have almost 9 months to figure everything out.

I am spending a lot more mental energy on the wedding planning right now, because she's in school, but I don't feel like she wants me to organize everything myself. Everytime I need to discuss something, she listens and has imput. Just last night we decided on our wedding colours! I wasn't sure if she'd like my new idea (mango orange and aqua blue) but she did! it will fit perfectly with our oceanside boat wedding. And I've already got my mermaid dress!

Anyway, just introducing myself here and gushing about how happy I am! I am sorry that same-sex marriage isn't legal in all the States. Keep fighting! It's such a non-issue up here in Canada. We haven't come up against anything negative, from vendors, friends, family, etc. Love and strength!

Congrats and welcome to WB! You're so lucky to be planning with a women who will give you advice and opinions and actually help. My FI so doesn't care about any of the details.

@USAandKSA: I'm sorry your partner doesn't seem to be interested in helping you plan! maybe you need to sit down and get clear on what does excite them, what they envision, and what areas they can "direct" somewhat...

That's so awesome! We haven't set a date yet and are semi-long distance (120miles only, but still sucks), There are a few other factors but I cannot wait to set a date and be in the place where you are with your planning. So happy for you!!! :) And weclome!
