Thats awesome! I wish NY would get their act together and pass it.
I am really hoping this goes through. The Attorney General of Maryland already issued an opinion saying that same-sex marriages from elsewhere will be recognized in Maryland. However, legislation would protect us from some court coming along and saying the opposite, as well as permitting same-sex couples to get married in MD.
As of today, 25 members of the Maryland Senate are in favor, which means it is virtually certain to pass.
The law has now passed in the Maryland Senate! It now goes on to the House, which is generally seen as more liberal than the Senate, so the likelihood of enactment seems high.
