Okay, this may sound like a really dumb question but I haven’t really been able to find the asnwer anywhere else.
We’re hanging flower filled mason jars on shepherd’s hooks for our aisle ends. I’m curious what other people have used to hang the jars. I never see any ribbon or anything in pictures and wonder how people pull it off. Ribbon? Wire? What works best?

Is it possible they are using heavy grade fishing line? If there’s nothing holding it up in the pictures, that would be my first thought. I’d probably use some jute string or twine or something if you are going for rustic.

I would use a heavy wire. I have mason jars with candles hanging on hooks on my deck. I just wrapped wire firmly around the rim and the attached a little arch of wire to hang on the hook. They have stood up to all sorts of rain and wind so it’s pretty sturdy.
For the wedding you could put ribbon over the wire to decorate it a bit, or depending on the type of flowers those might just hide the wire enough.
ETA: Here is a tutorial I found online that shows how to make them http://www.17apart.com/2013/04/diy-weddings-how-to-make-hanging-mason.html

I’ve seen them hung with twine before, simple and doesn’t take away from the flowers, but adds a cute touch.
