If you I on cd 8, and you have a 28 day cycle, that means you have a 20 day LP, which is highly unusual. Are you sure you are ovulating in day 8? How do you decide when you have ovulated? Temping? OPKs?

I’ve been charting since May and am currently on cycle 4.  For the past 3 cycles I have consistently had migraines about 1-2 days before my temp shift, so I think I get them around ovulation too!  I also get horrible ones right around my period.  I think it has to do with the shifts in hormones.  When I was on the pill I would always get headaches during the sugar pills, which coincides with an abrupt change in hormones.  I think the same thing must happen around ovulation and my period.  Haven’t had a headache yet this cycle (other than during AF), but I also haven’t ovulated yet either.  Part of me is just hoping that this is a temporary side affect from being on BCP, but I have no idea.  I’ve also found that my migraine meds don’t seem to be as affective now that I’m off BCP, but coffee and ibuprofin works pretty well.  I hardly ever drink caffeine, though, so it might be more affective for me because of that.

SkinnyLatte17:  Makes much more sense now. haha Migraines can definitely be triggered by significant hormone shifts like those that occur right at O time. They could also be triggered by something you tend to eat right around that hormone shift that maybe you don’t eat as much of during other parts of your cycle. Like, do you tend to indulge in chocolate (I know I crave it around O time) and maybe you don’t eat chocolate much at any other time? Or some other food? It may help to keep a journal for a few cycles to track everything and see if there may be something other than hormones that triggers the headache.

SkinnyLatte17:  No migraines, but extreme bloating, some cramping, extremely tired, and did I mention the bloating?!  My ovulation is worse than my PMS!

I thought I was the only one! I’ve only been off BC for 2 months and the first month I thought something was really wrong. Crazy bad headaches and light headed a lot.

Woke up with a bad headache yesterday and took an OPK in the afternoon and it was positive. My guess is they are related.
