I would really appreciate some advice. I have a beautiful platinum and diamond engagement ring that I do enjoy wearing. Usually however I prefer yellow or rose gold jewellery but I do not like the way diamonds look when set in yellow or rose gold. I ordered a white gold wedding band (my fiancee’s is yellow gold) so I could wear it on the same finger as my engagement ring to add a white gold eternity ring to it at a later date 😉
The thing is that I want to keep wearing yellow gold necklaces and earrings etc but this might look clashy with white gold, platinum on my hands? I also think a yellow gold wedding band is more traditional?
I thought about not wearing my engagement ring and just wearing a yellow gold wedding band but that seems like a shame? Any advice would be soooo helpful?

Maybe u can stack?

I think it’d be ok to wear yellow gold jewelry with engagement and wedding bands…those are kind of set apart from the rest of your jewelry in my opinion. I do think it would be a shame to let the platinum ring sit!

I have a yellow gold ring (on the other hand), and a few yellow gold necklaces i wear occasionally. I don’t think that they clash at all with my white gold ring. I haven’t heard anything about yellow gold being more traditional. Could it just be that yellow gold was more popular at one point? (I was interested in this ans wiki-ed it, it said nothing about gold jewelry, but it did say that most men did not wear wedding bands until around WWII) I agree that you shouldn’t let a platinum set go to waste!

It’s totally fine to mix and match metal colors. Most ladies I know do.

its fine, my e ring and wedding band dont even match, and niether one match my FI wedding band. my e ring is sterling silver but because of the size and set of the blue topaz in it i couldnt wear a band with it. so I went with a beautiful rose gold and diamond wedding band ( Ill wear my E ring on my other hand) and his ring is tungsten because of the type of work he does he needed something durable that wouldnt scratch or bend.

If I was you, I would have gotten a yellow gold wedding band instead of the white gold one that you got, since you like yellow gold so much. It is perfectly acceptable to wear a yellow gold ring next to a white metal- I like the varied look.
Platinum and gold do wear differently, however. You can still wear your e-ring next to your yellow gold band, but maybe not everyday. Maybe wear your e-ring with it when you go out on dates or an event.
Just an idea!

I think it’s perfectly ok to mix and match… If you love yellow gold, go with a yellow gold band… or you can do something like this bee did: (borrowed picture from google, it’s originally Moose1209’s set)
I think something like that would look great… Or you could do something like this:
(but obviously with your e-ring and diamond band in platinum/white gold, with a gold band, since you said you don’t like diamonds in yellow gold)

I would get a platinum wedding band to go with the e-ring, because mixing gold and platinum on one finger can cause exessive wear to the platinum (unless you plan to solder your rings together, in which case it doesn’t matter).
If you plan to solder, the photos o0olibelulao0o posted took amazing!
As far as wearing other jewlery in yellow gold with your platinum rings – anything goes! I mix metals all the time and I think it loos fine.
