I started wearing my maternity pants around 11-12 weeks because I just couldn't deal with the tummy sleeve anymore (which I started wearing around 6-7 weeks on days that I felt super bloated). I love wearing them now! I have a few shirts and some look okay but others still look really long since I'm not really fully popped out yet (I'm 17 weeks 2 days).
I started wearing a bella band around 8 weeks - then at 10 weeks, started wearing maternity jeans. Full on maternity clothing at 12 wks! I had some bloating from weeks 7-12, but did start showing on the early side (am 5'2).
I started wearing maternity pants around 8 weeks. I'm 13 weeks, and I'm in all maternity pants. Tops are little more iffy. I have grown to a DDD so I'm about to start needing maternity tops. I just need my bump to look a little more pregnant than eating too much. Once I got in maternity pants, I felt so much more comfortable.
I bought a pair of 'under belly' partial elastic waist jeans to get me through the first trimester bloat, along with the hairband trick to give my regular pants some more life. And a couple of blousy/empire type tops.
Started truly needing panel pants and maternity tops or only long regular tops around 13-14 weeks. Caveat: Having twins, but I'm tall-ish at 5'8", so I don't think I'm too much bigger than many singleton moms at this stage.
I am 18 weeks and my regular pants just stopped buttoning (comfortably) last week. I went out and purchased a set of maternity clothes, but I'm still not ready for them. The bellaband is doing a great job right now covering up my unbuttoned pants and I have a feeling that I'll last this way for another week or two.
I'm petite as well, 5'1 and I was fully in maternity clothes around week 12/13. The tops are still a little big so I tend to wear regular shirts that are extra long.
I'm tall but have no torso. I started showing at 10weeks even though at that point I had lost about 7lbs. I started wearing mostly dresses or leggings with sweaters around this time. I was in full on maternity clothes by 12 weeks.
Im almost 20 weeks now and still in my regular pants, although I had to attach a hair elastic this morning to create a bit of a gap as closing the jeans was giving me a proper, unattractive muffin top!
Im small at 5'1" but have always had a flat tummy and rock hard abs which Im pretty sorry to see dissolve into fat now :(
I have already agreed with my DH that after we have kids- Im getting a tummy tuck as a gift to myself!
I HATE maternity clothes- I have broad shoulders and everything I wear makes me look like a linebacker! Bleugh! But I have bought a few bits and pieces already :(
I needed the belly band around 6 weeks. I can get my jeans on still but they are too uncomfortable to wear at work. I need to get some Maternity pants asap because I have been wearing my Yoga pants every day :S
I'm 14 weeks today and still wearing my regular clothes. I have purchased a couple of pairs of maternity pants and a skirt but haven't been able to bring myself to wear them yet. I'm just not quite ready to give up my regular clothes but I know it will happen within the next week or two. I'm 5'4" and a size 2/4 pre pregnancy.
I started wearing maternity jeans around 9 weeks, because I got them super cheap during an after Christmas sale, and my jeans were cutting into my baby bloat most uncomfortably by the end of the day. I wear them almost exclusively now, because I thought it was silly to be so uncomfortable when I didn't have to be.
I'm still in my regular shirts, though. My boobs haven't really grown all that much, and everything still fits fine.
I'm nearly 21 weeks and I'm still wearing normal clothes. A few pairs of my shorts are a bit tighter than I would like so I either wear them around the house with the button undone or go with my other shorts which still fit fine. I had to upgrade bras by 12 weeks as I was bursting out of my old ones, which also means some of my sundresses don't fit around my chest, but for the most part, all of my normal clothes fit fine.
I tried on some of my maternity clothes the other day and they're still too big but I'm guessing I'll be in them in the next couple of weeks or so. I'm tall and thin, albeit with virtually no torso, but I've gained 13 lbs already (yikes!) I think the only place this baby has room left to grow is out so the belly has to be coming soon!
I was into pants at 10 weeks, my jeans were just sooo uncomfortable, and I hated the bella band (I could not get into wearing my jeans undone). Most of my regular shirts, and my fitted pea coat were tight around the belly at around 16 weeks, so I packed up the rest of my regular clothes then.
I was lucky though and found a lot of clothes I love.
Just an FYI - I am 5'7 and plus-sized, so I think it is just really individual.
I just bought my first pair of maternity jeans at 25 weeks.
During my second trimester I wore all of my old pants with a bella band (and I still do that, but the maternity jeans are less fussy and don't move around much).
Like msmini I'm 5'7 and plus sized. I'll be 24 weeks thursday and I started showing properly about two weeks ago, and it feels like every time I look down my bump is a little bigger. My old jeans gave up about three weeks ago and I found maternity jeans strangely uncomfortable so I just bougt regular ones two sizes up, cheap ones, and they're really roomy and so comfy, I reckon I might get the rest of February out of those if I'm lucky. I've bought some dresses a couple sizes up as well, and have found that brilliant - our weather is all over the place at the moment so on cold days I put on a vest, longsleeve top, leggings and thick socks with my boots and I'm cosy but still feel a bit dressed, so to speak. As it gets warmer then into spring I will wear the dresses with flip flops and if my bump is raising them to indecent levels, then the leggings will come back out again!
Thanks for the responses. Hopefully the bloating goes down soon. I bought a few maternity clothes already but can't bring myself to wear them just yet.
I'm sorry to comment on an older post, but thanks for starting this thread. I have never really experienced bloating till pregnancy, and now that I'm 7 weeks along, you might as well tell me I was 6 months!!! I feel like my stomach is huge, and I tried wearing a normal body shapers and it put so much pressure on my stomach, so I'm going to pray its bloat, not like my husband says because I have been eating to much chocolate. Yeah I almost killed him.
For those that had bloat, did it go away? I hate buying anything so early but I was thinking of getting a belly band? Did that help people with the bloat? Without being superuncomforatble?

Just curious to see when everyone busted out the maternity clothes for the first time. I am very early on in pregnancy but the bloating is out of control!
