I am officially a new bee, though I have been lurking for a long time. Love everything to do with wedding and especially jewelry which is why I’m here : )
I need some help/input on what to do for a maternity gift. I hope you will help and please share stories/photos of your choices if you have any. Maybe some of you already have received wonderful jewelry for maternity gifts or have dreams/desires in that direction, please share : )
I have been married for nearly four years and am now expecting our second child and my husband wants to buy me something nice for a maternity gift. (well I think it’s a wonderful idea…)
When we got engaged he chose a dainty yellow gold ering for me, it is untraditional with 7 small diamonds forming a flower and I have a very dainty and thin band to go with it. I love my ering, it’s very me and fits my thin fingers (size 4.5 for reference) but I am thinking of upgrading my set somehow on this occasion, but not sure how! Is adding another band an option since there is no center stone for a reset? Any suggestions?
Here it is:
And another shot so you can see the setting:
When we had our first child my sweet husband got me a semi eternity band in white gold as a RHR. Maybe I should just go for adding another ring to make a stack for a RHR? What do you think?
I usually wear it with a thin rose gold band as pictured and sometimes with the plain gold band also. Any thoughts of what I could add?
Or should I go for a whole new RHR? I have been dreaming of getting a ruby ring, love rubies but still not the happy owner of one…
However I’m not sure if I want another ring to wear on it’s own, somehow I like the idea that I could wear rings representing each of my children next to each other. Or maybe I should go with gettting something entirely different, like earrings or so, what would you do?
I know I’m probably giving this way too much thought but I thought that you guys would understand! : )

Have you concidered perhaps adding another 1/2 eternity band in a different color of metal? My fiance and i have talked about doing that, rose gold for girls and white gold for boys and then having them as a stacked ring in the order of birth? That might be an idea, or maybe a small filagree band might look lovely as a complement to what you already have! Congrats on the upcoming baby by the way! 🙂

I really like your e-ring/w-ring set the way it is. I love the flower idea. If you wanted it reset but wanted something a little more sparkly, here are a few ideas:
I am usually not a big fan of stacked sets, only because I don’t like that many rings on one finger. Not comfortable for me.
If you do want another RHR, what about a thin eternity ruby ring?
FWIW, I think it’s awesome your Darling Husband wants to get you something! I didn’t get anything for any of my kids! Hmmm…gonna have to talk to the Darling Husband about that!

I vote for getting another ring to add to your existing RHR stack.

@MrsHoneyC: Thank you : )
I think that’s a great idea, I like wearing different colored metals on my right hand since my set is in yellow gold. I think they compliment each other and also gives me a free card to what colors I wear in my other jewelry, ‘cos then they are all represented if you know what I mean… I’m only a little hesitant about getting another 1/2 eternity to stack because the one I have sometimes tend to twist around, but it might be that the one I have is slightly too big.
I haven’t even thought of a filigree band! I’ll have to look into that, definetely a good idea and also incorporates the flower in the ering.
I think it’s so interesting to hear other peoples thoughts on this subject. I like the idea of a ring for each child because rings you can gaze upon all the time (as oppposed to earrings and such), so when you’re working or whatever you can look at them and be reminded of all the wonderful in your life : )

@country chic: Thank you so much for the pictures, I’ll definetely look into that, especially ring number two from above is stunning! I haven’t had the imagination to figure out a way to reset my ering…
Yeah I think it is a marvelous idea with the maternity gifts : ) my husband is danish and in Denmark it’s a big deal.
