Edit: I keep reading that people say never pay more than half of the list price.
Does that mean if I walk into a store and the bed is listed at 2500 and on sale for 1500….I should really pay 1250?
I hate mattresses and math
First of all, if anyone out there in the bee world actually sells mattresses or knows someone who does…we would be forever grateful for your advice. We are really bad at the negotiating game…and really have no idea how much to spend on a bed…I hate that no one will just tell you the best price..we have to do an exhausting back and forth that drives me crazy!
Bees…what type of bed did you buy and how much did you talk them down?!
Three types we like:
1. Latex blend- problem/not many stores sell this. We found one at Boscov’s for 1200. There are absolutely no reviews for the brand and bed anywhere online.
2. Hybrid with foam/gel/latex/coils/marshmallow fluff/Ambien/crack….we don’t know what a good price is?
3. Bed in a Box- prices are way awesome…reviews are way awesome..what is the catch?

Sleep Number – best mattress I ever purchased.

Did you pay full price? If not, how much were you able to get the sales rep to come down in price?

I concur, the sleep number bed is the best ever. We slept on one at a swanky hotel and our next mattress will be a sleep number.
Only thing I will tell you is check your local mattress laws. I watched a 60 minutes/dateline show that talked about the mattress laws. Completely freaked me out. Some states don’t have to tell you or label “refurbished” mattresses. I had no idea they could even do that, but apparently it’s really common.

I’m not sure if you’d get Mattress Mattress where you live, but they have got the best prices and selection for mattresses.

We got a Vera Wang mattress by Serta, the type with the individual coils. It’s a kind size and we love it! Around here prices weren’t negotiable…so no haggling.

I always just buy my mattresses from Sam’s Club. They are incredibly well priced. We bought a pillowtop Serta queen sized mattress with bed frame and shipping for under $600. The prices in mattress stores are always twice as much!

No Mattress Mattress =(
@Westwood and we have yet to see a Vera Wang anything…what store did you go to?

I think it was American Mattress…sorry we went to so many stores it’s hard to remember lol.

I’m curious about this too…we are moving into our new house in a month and a half, and planning on buying a new mattress. Our budget is pretty low, and eventually we want to get a tempurpedic, but what do you think about this one?
My mom has a friend who has one, and loves it…and check out those reviews! So what’s the catch?

I believe we have a Serta (not completely sure) and we purchased a King Mattress only since we have a platform bed and don’t need a box spring. It originallywas $1500 and we just asked the guy if he could do any better than that since last time we bought a mattress we were given some money off. We paid $1000 for it at a Sleepy’s, not sure if you have them by you. I’m pretty sure they all are sort of negotiable.

Thank you! Your info is really helpful.
I would never think to ask for $500 off of a $1500 mattress. That is a third of the listed price…what a racket!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Irishb: I love my Tempurpedic mattress. Had to shop around for the best deal. Some places have financing options.
