Ok I was all set on having our reception at The Feast at Lele–but after the tax and fees they add on for larger parties it comes to 138 pp (rather the 115 I thought it would be)
This lead me to check out their other luao, the Old Lahaina Luau—92 bucks a person with an additional 10% discount on parties of 15 or more
I’m going to have at least 10 people, as many as 20
I’m really torn about which is best. I’m not sure if I’m being a cheapo but the 46-55 bucks per person difference is pretty tempting. Both Luaus are very popular and highly reviewed–the Old Lahaina Luau is buffet style though. They can seat 10 to a table and any additional guests would be seated at the next table–so there is a possibility that we will have a couple of guests sharing a table with others
But the Feast at Lele has tables that only seat 8–so even though no one will be seated with strangers, we definitely will not be all at one table
Has anyone been to the Old Lahaina Luau? What was your take on it? Do you think it’s worth an extra 50 bucks or so per person to have sit down service over the buffet?
Btw we’re paying for this ourselves (and for travel for fiance’s brother), hence my penny-pinching lol

How fun, congratulations!! I have been to the Old Lahaina Luau – and we had a great time. A friend of ours who’s from Maui actually recommended it, and it’s got a reputation as being the most authentic luau in Maui. Plus, I’m a huge buffet fan. People can try all kinds of different things. Seeing that it’s also cheaper definitely seals the deal for my vote. 🙂

I’ve been to the Old Lahaina Luau and I had a fantastic time. The food was amazing. I liked that it was buffet style because then you could get exactly what you wanted. The Luau itself was awesome too- wonderful dancing and really exciting “fire” show. You can’t go wrong. Have fun!

Awesome! I was so worried that the Old Lahaina Luau would be terrible–because I went to another buffet luau that was terrible (but less than 1/2 the price)
My family has been to The Feast at Lele and they were fans but I’m not sure if it’s worth the added expense since we’re paying for everyone…..we still may hit up that luau on the last night before the guests leave, leaving us to our honeymoon =)

Old Lahaina Luau!!! Absolutely. You cannot go wrong with it. We had so much fun with the people at our table, the food was delicious and I got to pick out exactly what I wanted, and our waiter did bring us drinks upon request. The setting is beautiful, the show is fantastic. Plus, it is said to be the most authentic luau in Maui. We’d go to it again if we ever get to go back.

This is a toughie-wish I could say “both”! They are both awesome but each has a different vibe and you can’t go wrong either way. If money is an issue (Lele is SO pricey) then go Old Lahaina.
It’s Maui and it’s going to be amazing (no matter what:)
