I am planning a trip to Maui! 🙂
I have been a few times before but am looking for new/unique things to do while I am there!
I have been to the top of Haleakala for the sunset, gones to Lanai for the day, surfed, visited Iao Valley Park, I’ve been on a whale watching cruise, a sunset cruise, snorkeling cruises, and snorkled on a sand bar where a bunch of sea turtles hang out.
I have never done the road to Hana and would like to try this!
Any other ideas?

Sorry this was not meant to be posted on this board. But I’m still looking for ideas!

Hit farmer’s markets and local festivals! It’s fun. A long while back we went to an obon festival and it was really a lot of fun.
Maybe take a cooking class? Lavender gardens? Horseback riding?

@RedPandas: Road to Hana is well worth the trip, but take some Gravol if you get motion sickness! Check out the Oheo Gulch pools at th Kipahulu side of Haleakala National Park (at the “end” of the Road to Hana) and maybe Waianapanapa, the black sand beach along the way.
I watched the sunrise at Haleakala as well, but I took the bike ride down to the bottom – that was a lot of fun.
Maybe take a day trip to another island? I took a day trip from Oahu to Kauai with a helicopter tour around the island and that was pretty awesome!

I went to Maui last year. Some of my favorite activities were ziplining and hiking.

@RedPandas: The snorkeling with sea turtles was my favorite experience ever! Ziplining on Maui is also amazing. Go through Kaanapali Ziplines. Also, it’s not really an adventure but the shaved ice at Ululani’s in Lahaina is the BEST shaved ice I have ever had. Het the macadamia ice cream ib the bottom with coconut, guava and pineapple syrup. Incredible!

@rand04: hiking is a good idea! Any specific areas/trails you can recommend?
@sparklerunner: Ululani’s is my FAVOURITE! I always get the ice cream in the bottom 🙂 I can’t wait to have some haha!

@RedPandas: I’m craving it now just thinking about it! I’d also suggest CJ’s Deli in Kaanapali. They have this great deal where you order a picnic cooler for lunch and they pack up a styrofoam cooler with sandwiches, chips, fruit, drinks and dessert. FI and I did that on our last day and took the cooler down to the beach and spent all day laying out and snorkeling and watched the sunset. It’s also a really good option for the road to Hana.
