I haven't been, but this is what I've heard from friends who have got to both. (I asked the same question . . . )
Maui = lots of stuff to do
Kauai = lots of nature/relaxing to do
Both are beautiful and it sounds like you can't go wron.
I've been to both, though with my family (definitely not a honeymoon!)
Personally, I preferred Maui. It rained a lot more Kauai, so everything is green, but you get an afternoon shower (though it does clear up quickly). Kauai is less touristy, though obvs not completely so. Maui is busier and more bustling, but you can still find really relaxing spots. when we've gone we've stayed by Lahaina, away from the main drag, but still on the busier island. It was wonderfully quiet relaxing and the big resorts were close by if you wanted to go to a more city feel.
I've not been to Maui (we're going for our honeymoon, though), but I have been to Kauai. Kauai is absolutely gorgeous! If you want peace and quiet, it's the place to go. Be warned, there is NO nightlife. Well, none that I found.
We're going to Kauai for our honeymoon! I've been to Kauai before but not Maui and the FI hasn't been to either. We compared places on both islands and found better deals on Kauai. I definitely agree that Kauai doesn't have any nightlife but the FI and I plan to make our own! :) We're going during the low season in September, and we're looking forward to feeling like we have the island to ourselves.
We're going to Kauai as well!
FI and I totally wanted something laid back with a lot of outdoor stuff (we really aren't into the "nightlife" anymore) so Kauai was the perfect choice. We found a REALLY great deal too!
I can't wait!
We couldn't decide, so we are doing both haha. Seems like Kauai has more outdoorsy adventure place and Maui offers similar items but does seem more touristy and not as lush. Both islands have websites you can request information from and gohawaii.com helped us make our final choices too. Aloha :)
Kauai is AMAZING!!! I had so much fun there. There is a million things to do, but it's not as touristy as the other islands. It's much more relaxed and chill. There's sky diving, zip lining, hiking, snorkeling, FUN! I highly recommend Kauai :]

As a wedding present to us, my parents have graciously offered to pay for airfare, hotel and a car for our honeymoon! We are going to Hawaii and are deciding between Maui and Kauai. My fiance and I have never been to Hawaii so we do not know which island we should go to. We will be there for about a week and a half. Which island is better for a honeymoon? What are some things we should do while we are there?
