I just left s post for another Maui bride re: this.  We live here and used Joanna Tano for our photog last March.  she is awesome.  Check out her website at http://www.joannatano.com.  We really liked working with her, and found her rates to be very competitive, although I’m not sure if they’ve changed since then.  We didn’t use a wedding planner, so can’t help with that, but if you have specific questions let me know.  I’ve lived here for 6 years and had so much fun planning our wedding!

We are getting married in Makena (south of Wailea on Maui) at Kukahiko Estate. Our party will be about 11 guests (including 5 children/infants). We are using Tropical Maui Weddings- Lori and Jackie are so great and patient (I am very indecisive!). Lori’s hubby Jamie Lawrence will sing at our ceremony and reception, which will be held at Capische restaurant in Waliea. Check them out if you like: http://www.tropicalmauiweddings.com/index.aspx I have a friend on Maui who recommended them, so I didn’t call around to different companies. They are very happy to work with whatever budget!

I’m using Cheryl fromhttp://www.mauiweddingcakes.com/    and Darren at http://www.kuolanifloral.com/  Everything to do with planning has been fun and easy so far. A great team of people, I feel, is really important when planning from far away!

For photography, Anna Kim was the best!

We are renting a 3 bdrm condo in Wailea Beach Villas so that most of our family doesn’t have to pay for separate accommodations. Kind of pricey ($900/night for a penthouse), but cheaper than renting 3 separate hotel rooms, and more fun that we are all under the same roof (we each have ensuite bathrooms). The property looks amazing, and right next to Shops at Wailea, beachfront.

Good luck and feel free to PM if you have any questions:)
