Hey ladies! Where are all the May 2011 brides? I am getting married in Majorca (Spain) on a date to be determined but we know it's going to be in May :) How is everyone getting on with planning? It's not that far away!!!
Hoorayyy for a 05/2011 board!! We're getting married on the 28th (Memorial Day weekend) in Logan, OH. We have our venue & photographer booked. My mum is flying out to visit us in February and we will hopefully find/order my dress during her visit.
@h4baine- Majorca! How fantastic! Can't wait to hear the details!
I'm here! :) May 21st, it's the long weekend in Canada! We have a lot done, venue, photographer, and I have my dress!!
I'm here!! My FI and I are planning for a May 27, 2011 wedding. We don't have anything booked just yet. Look forward to seeing more from you all.

yay for a may 2011 board!! we have our venue, and are contemplating photogs and caterers right now. I've been dress shopping multiple times, but haven't found the one yet! can't wait to hear about everyone else's planning!

We're May 29th and I've been stupidly excited for this past few days as I can finally say that we're getting married next year. Saying 2011 before now has always seemed so far away.
Wow...the thought of a May 2011 wedding makes me feel like I'm WAY behind...

We're getting married May 7th (mother's day weekend) and like Jinx, I was looking forward to New Years because I could then start saying, "Next year" when refering to our wedding.
We've not booked anything yet, mostly because I promised to let FI enjoy the holidays before getting down to planning stuff. It also helps that we're getting married in a small town. When we visited the venue for the ceremony for a Christmas open house, they only had 5 wedding booked for 2010. He said he would book ours, but needed to buy a 2011 calendar first.
I'm super excited that we have a board now. Yipee!!!!
Another May 2011 bride here. My FI proposed Christmas night. We are planning a May 21, 2011 wedding. I am doing some light researching on venues, colors, etc right now but nothing in stone.
Can't wait to hear everyone else's color and themes.
Me! We are also getting married on memorial day weekend- May 28, 2011. We have our ceremony and reception site booked. The site comes with catering, linens, and such. I'm still researching all the other details. It's nice to feel like we have so much time to plan, however I know it will be here before we know it!
We're getting married Friday May 13th, 2011 and I can't wait till I graduate from college this May and finally have time to do some real planning. A lot is still up in the air since we want to wait till we know where I'll be going to grad school before we decide on the area we are getting married in. We got engaged in May 2009 and it seemed like May 2011 was an eternity, but now its starting to feel like its coming up a lot faster then before, lol. I can't wait to go to bridal shows again, but this time be able to say my wedding is next year!
Add me to the list! We're planning on memorial day weekend too! For all the other mem day brides, was there any particular reason why you chose between the saturday or sunday? My venue has both days available and I'm not sure what I would prefer. FI doesn't mind which one it is. Thought I'd ask what were the reasons behind your choice!
I don't think there was a particular reason that we chose Saturday of Memorial Day, other than it is just more traditional. I can definitely see the pros and cons of that extra day though! That's one more day of planning/relaxing/getting things ready for the wedding, but if you have it on Saturday that's a Monday that I won't have to take off work and we'll still have Sunday to relax/open presents with the family and the like. Just my thoughts. I look forward to hearing about everyone's wedding plans!! It'll be here before we know it. :)
me too! me too! we're getting married on either May 7th or May 14th. We've got some colors picked out (peach, green, blue) but they may change. Right now, we're talking with some churches in the area and researching venues.
It's funny, but having a board makes it seem a little more real to me :)
hoosierlauren - isn't mem day Monday a national holiday for everyone in the US? If not I need to rethink this Sunday thing!
yeah May 2011 brides! I'm so excited this post was started. I couldn't wait for 2010 to roll around so it didn't sound as far away!
We've saved May 28th in Chicago for our wedding. Picked Saturday because it gave us time to spend AFTER the wedding with guests.
I'm enjoying that I get a few months before I really have to get started with the planning.
ja7975- Yes, I think so. I meant that when we leave for our honeymoon, I will already have Monday off as a national holiday so I won't have to take any vacation days. :) Sorry for the confusion!
ja7975- We never really considered Sunday, I think we had just always pictured a Saturday wedding.
Also, looking back, it was probably a good idea: The majority of my family are devout Catholics and having a Sunday wedding would probably draw more attention to the fact that we're not *gasp* getting married in a church.

We're looking at May 14, 2011. It'll be a day after our two-year anniversary which I know may seem awfully quick to some of you.
Of course, I don't have a darn ring yet and I refuse to do anything until I get it! So we'll see ...
Also - three of our friends have gotten engaged recently and are all looking at Spring 2011 ... since they've come first I suppose we may have to push it anyway! GRAR!
@Sillyrae - If by some grace we get to keep this date, we'll be date twins!!
We have our church and I am not talking to our Hall. I have a idea of the colors I want - pink and grey. I wanted to go for a beach theme but not sure I can pull it off in those colors. I may just go with a romantic theme instead.

@H4- How did you choose Majorca? I've been and it just might be one of my favorite beaches ever! That's so neat- do you have family from there or have you been to visit before? I'd love to hear your details!
@ja7975 we were only considering Sunday if Saturday was taken. Saturday works for us because we are flying in to San Diego from Texas, and a good portion of our guests will be from out of town as well. We liked the idea of spending a relaxing Sunday with the out of towners and not being rushed. Everyone, including us, can/will leave on Monday.
just got some bad news on the church we were hoping for... now I have to try to figure out another solution.
really starting to rethink my "planning from afar" approach.

I am soooo excited!!!! We're getting married on May 21, 2011...I was a corny Bride that at midnight on New Year's Eve said that we were getting married NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!! I am so excited to be able to say that we are getting married next year. WWhen we finally to get married, we will have been together for almost 4 years and have been engaged just 3 days shy of 2 years. I have been having so much fun planning my wedding. We already have the church, the venue, the photog, flowers picked out, Save the dates are done...just need to book the limo and DJ....so exciting!!!!

We're getting married in a botanical garden here in Philly. So far we've only booked the venue but we're very close to nailing down a caterer.

hey May 2011! I'm getting Married 29 May 2011 (its a sunday but that Monday is a holiday) i'm so glad there's a board out here! I was getting so sad thinking i was the only one waiting for May!
I am getting married on May 7th 2011, which it the same day me and my finance got together. The way fate works the date also corresponds with are birth dates!!!! We are getting married in Orange County, Ca. I am a do it yourself bride so life as gotten pretty crazy and at the same time very informative.
May 29th 2011!! (or as my fiancee keeps saying "five-two-nine-one-one", he thinks it is catchy! hopefully that will help him remember =))
We picked that Sunday for religious/practical reasons. We really wanted a Saturday wedding so our guests don't have to worry about getting home to go to work, but we are both Jewish, and so our P-rents were not too pleased with a Saturday wedding. We ended up picking the Sunday of memorial day becuase as Tubes said, that day is basically a Saturday!
What is the first detail you all crossed off the list?? (if you have done anything at all yet!) Strangely enough the first thing I did was buy my dress!!

@amyrose, the first thing we did was talk to a hotel about a reception venue and then started looking for the church.
While doing that, I contacted the photographer we want to use and got confirmation from our friend that is going to DJ.
I feel realized that this "BIG TICKET" items are almost done. Then I can relax until the spring to dress shop. I've been making myself wait! :)
What colors are all of you ladies doing?
We're using an apple green, turquoise, and bright blue. They are really "watery" colors but we want to add peacock feathers as small touches (like hair things for the ladies and bouts for the guys).
@meganrose im using those colours plus touches of rich purple, and we are also using peacock feathers
im a may 21at bride, i have the dress and the church is booked. ive been considering making my own invitations from those kits you buy at micheals and adding my own twist so they match my theme... my dad booked the dj, and my FH friend is doing the photography for 500 dollars... thats a steal the man is amazing... ill be booking a reception venue whnen income tax money comes in if any, if not its waiting till summer, we have picked out or wedding party, i might be making my own wedding cake.... if i can borrow someones fridge or keep mine fairly empty for a night or two, ive decided on flowers and the florist is booked, i even have the vases in my apartment for the centerpieces i have my rehearsal dress, its black is that ok? hmm and we also chose this authentic chinese restaurant for our rehearsal dinner, we found it by chance when he was taking me out and we lost track of time and had to find a place to eat that was open at 10pm, that i have to say was our best date ever so were having our last date there too, and then he wont see me again till 3pm on may 21st when i walk down the aisle

Doing your own invitations are really easy. I'm happy to help you out if you want. My own invitations will be the 4th one I've done so I can give you some good pointers!

I realize I'm plastering mine and my husbands name all over right now but meganrose is my sister and my invites were the first she did on her Gocco...we got a great picture of our amazing programs which look awesome but they weren't printed on the Gocco so the stuff with the Gocco turned out even better!
