Love the DR!! We are talking about when and where, too. We are considering Europe, a cruise is so much more cost effective but we don't even know if a honeymoon is in the cards right now. If I go back to work soon, there is a good chance that I won't be able to take much vacation time. So we are in "wait and see" mode.
We decided to stay somewhat local and honeymoon in New England---four nights in Bar Harbor, Maine, a night in Boston, and two nights in a seaside town north of Boston. We did a lot of reading and it seems many people regret a big trip immediately after the wedding so we figured we save some cash --- and do our dream Mediterranean cruise for our first anniversary.
FH and I have decided to take a road trip cross country. We are going West and splitting our time between camping in National/State parks and in inexpensive hotels. We are looking at a cost of about $2500- $3000 for a whole month of travel. Since he is starting med school in the fall and I will be starting student teaching, this will be our only opportunity to make this long of a trip for a very long time.
Your honeymoons sound wonderful too! I wish we could do something more tropical, but FH has a fear of water that is deeper than he is tall. hehe
@Shaema- maybe someday in like 10 years we'll have the opportunity to go to Italy and really enjoy ourselves (not to mention afford it!)

Oh we've been to Punta Cana before! It is beautiful, and yes, very reasonable! You'll have a blast!
We just booked our honeymoon to Key West, FL. Neither of us have ever been so we're really lookin' forward to it!
My fiance is in the Air Force so we have about a week after our wedding to get to his duty station :) SO, we are going to Vegas haha... on our way to his base.
I am super lucky and one of my aunts offered to pay for our hotel during the honeymoon. My dad then offered his miles for our flights so the FH and I decided on GREECE! I am so excited. We leave the 23rd and come back the 2nd!

We're hitting up Italy (Rome, Florence, Siena, Venice) and France (Paris). Can't wait!!!
My FI & I will be going on a cruise to Mexico :). I've never been out of the country & we have a spa suite room with a balcony! I'm soooooo excited. I was happy with a road trip down the Oregon coast, but my FI says he wants to make it super special :).
I highly recommend cruises, they cover all your food, sleep, plus have amazing entertainment too. Way less stress to plan, we just gotta get the airplane tickets to the port. There's a waterslide on the boat! That's crazy!! ok I'm getting excited just thinking about it!
Wow everyone, we are all going to have soooo much fun, whether its across the US or to another country... in 3 months!!!
We're going to Jamaica - to the original Sandals Resort (it's more bed and breakfast style, I guess... but we get access to all three resorts and all their restaurants in the area.) We leave on a red eye on the 23rd and come back the 31st. My grandpa was kind enough to pay for most of it as his wedding gift to us. I'm so excited!
We booked a honeymoon package at The Tamarijn in Aruba. Neither of us has ever been, but the reviews were great and we did it all for under $3,000, including flights! One full week, all-inclusive. So excited!!!
@youreastonefox What are you guys planning on doing and where are you planning on staying in Vegas? We are thinking of Vegas too!
Hi ladies!
Since we are kind of having a destination wedding (having the wedding where we live and everyone is traveling here), after the wedding, we are going to soak in the hot springs and then stay the night at a B&B in the mountains. Then in October (work is too crazy this summer!) FI's parents are hosting a back-yard reception in our home state and we are taking our "official" honeymoon following the party. We are going to Jamaica and staying at Sandals Negril. We have never done a "tropical" vacation together, if you will, so we wanted a place that had a little bit of everything - from luxury to nightlife! I love hearing about your honeymoons!
We are going to Jamaica too :) We're staying at Couples Negril form the 24th-29th. I'm super excited. I haven't had a proper vacation in yearssss. It will be so nice to relax after planning the wedding for so long. Have any of you guys been to all inclusives before? This is our first time, but I think it will be nice to not have to worry about money.
Everyone's honeymoons sound great! We're doing Portugal for two and a half weeks. We'll hit the beachs, stomp some grapes in Porto and spend some time in the small cities and towns and Lisbon.
