@GlynnBugg13:  It sounds like you’ve got the major items taken care of and the rest is just icing on the cake (no pun intended). Don’t sweat it! You’ll be okay, and you can always enlist family/friends to help. πŸ™‚

Haha, I completely agree: with the wedding about 8 months away, everything feels so daunting right now–I feel like I haven’t done anything (though I do have a game plan). You have way more done than I do!I have: venue, photographer, BM dresses, my dress, shoes, know I’m doing my own hair and makeup, and know what I’m doing for invites and STDS but haven’t gotten them yet. I still have to call the caterer, figure out the DJ, & a few other big things. But honestly, I’m trying to minimize “extras” to cut stress: no maps with invites (our reception & ceremony are in the same place), etc. But since you already have all those big things done, you have plenty of time to focus on the little things!! I honestly think you’re ahead of the game!!

@GlynnBugg13:  I have quite a bit done as well. So far I have: the church, hall, dj, flowers, church, cookies (we are doing a cookie bar), photographer and decorator booked. I am making my own invites so I have all of those printed off and cut. (that wasn’t fun – cut over 1200 pieces of paper) now I just havpaper assemble them all. I also have my dress picked out and bought, as well as my shoes. I also have the BM dresses and shoes picked out.

I still have plenty of DIY projects to do. I am making my own card box, cake stand, programs, welcome sign and programs.

@ashnic87:  Yay for a cookie bar!!! I love creative dessert ideas!!

We have all the big stuff done and out of the way. Just sent in the contract and check for the ceremony and cocktail hour string quartet. Mailing STD’s Monday and then beginning to tackle DIY stuff, attire for gm, registering, and ordering bm dresses (picked those out last week and it was the hardest thing yet- why can’t they make and have samples of every color available for you to see??)

I feel a little behind! We have the major stuff done: ceremony & reception venue, photographer, dj, my dress, I have picked out my shoes but havent bought them, we have the guest book and a few decorations. And yep that is about it!

We are not planning on shopping for BM dresses till closer to christmas (they each get to choose thier own and a couple are wanting to loose some weight).

We know what we want to eat but havent made it official with the venue yet.

I am planning on making our invitations and programs, and I have a rough design done but haven’t finalized them or printed.

You bee’s are all making me feel behind! lol I need to get this show on the road!

@magglemay-2013:  I wanted to get as much done before school started back up. I graduate two weeks after our wedding, and knew this would be a hectic semester for me.  So don’t feel bad πŸ™‚ I just like to over plan πŸ™‚

@ashnic87:  I’m in the opposite boat–I graduate a semester before our wedding (my fiance graduates just two weeks before our wedding!) so I’m kind of at a stand-still right now since school started back up; I’m excited to graduate in December so I can get more done!!

Hi everyone! I have just this week booked our venue (whew!) It has changed several times and finally got the contract signed on this one. We have our photographer, my dress, my daughter’s dress (walking me down the aisle), our rings, and a color scheme chosen. Now that the venue is booked, I feel like I need to be working on decorations asap. It really feels real now that the venue is booked…

OMG I feel so far behind! We’re getting married on May 3, 2013, in Philly and I’m planning from San Francisco. I’m actually running for local office so have been so swamped with campaign stuff (and working full time) that wedding planning is going seem like a breeze after this! πŸ™‚

So far we’ve booked the venue (same for ceremony and reception and includes food and cake), the rehearsal dinner venue, and the DJ. We’re about ready to book with a photographer and he’ll include engagement shots with the package, which we’ll do in January when we go out to do a food and cake tasting. I have some info on the wedding website so far, but probably won’t launch it until after the e-photos in January (or should I launch it earlier with nonprofessional shots throughout?)

We also have a combined STD and invitation designed and ready to go through minted.com (I just have to get them the details to add in and see the proof). We’re not doing traditional invites with response cards; we’re technically doing a STD as an invite with the website for RSVPs, so perhaps another reason to launch the website before end of Jan?

I’d like to get the hotel rooms blocked, especially since the vast majority of folks will be from out of town, and I’d like to get the shuttles between the hotels and the venue booked. Everything else will have to wait until after the election on Nov 6 (which is in 23 days!!!!).

We’re having kind of a “travel” theme, so I want to order postcards from the various places we’ve been around the world to use as table identifiers, so I should probably start that search, too.

Anything else I should be prioritizing?

@GlynnBugg13:  I LOVE the map idea! Particularly since I’m a bit of a cartographile! I will definitely include that. The other thing we’re doing is finding a vintage suitcase or small luggage trunk (the old-school kind with the stickers) for the gift table for cards. And I’m thinking of using Shutterfly to make a “guest book” with pics of us in various places around the world with lots of space to write bon chance wishes. Would love to share more ideas!

Any thoughts on the other time frames I was wondering about?
