Caramel apples covered in rainbow sprinkles or caramel apples covered in peanuts? Or should I do half and half? The wedding is formal if it makes any difference. I love sprinkles and think they’re prettier, but I’m thinking that peanuts are probably yummier.

@shrinkgirl: Sprinkles…in case anyone has a peanut allergy 🙂 And it will bring a pop of color(s) to the favor!!

@shrinkgirl: Sprinkles due to the peanut allergy issue. A simple bit of cross contamination could have serious consequences.

I would shy away from all peanut covered, there are many people with peanut allergies. I personally don’t have any food allergies but I *hate* nuts (the texture, the taste… just uugh) and would be sad if that was my only option.
I think doing some sort of ratio between the two would be good. Depends on your guests but I think that sprinkles would tend to go faster than the nuts, so maybe like 60-40 ratio? Also if you *do* end up doing both options, make sure to keep them separate at all times and during preparation in case someone’s allergy is really severe.
Good luck, and sounds fun!!

I second the sprinkles. I think that you could also just keep the plain. Caramel apples are yummy regardless.

I agree with everyone – peanut allergies are way too common these days!

I hate peanuts so I say sprinkles! It is a much safer option!

Thanks, bees! I personally like the look and taste of sprinkles more, but I wasn’t sure. Also – I hadn’t considered the allergy issue. I think I’ll do all sprinkles.
@FoxyBride14: The only reason I’m not doing plain is because I’ve read that they’re very difficult to wrap if they don’t have some sort of topping – too sticky!!

I’d do half and half. I would much prefer the peanuts, but due to allergies, it’s probably a good idea to have some non-peanut ones.

@shrinkgirl: Ah ok, that makes sense then. You can color coordinate the sprinkles to your wedding!

To answer your question, I say sprinkles – colorful and allergy free. I also want to have caramel apples for my favors. Any suggestions on where to buy them?

How about 1/2 covered in rainbow sprinkles and 1/2 covered in chocolate sprinkles?

@hwilliamson11: I’m planning on ordering from this website.
They seem to specialize in wedding favors, and have very good reviews on weddingwire. And their prices are reasonable.
@kmb727: Not a bad idea! Chocolate on apples is yummy. Thanks!!

I say half and half. However, I know you didn’t ask for this opinion, but I’ve been to a few weddings now that did these as favors. They’re definitely cute looking, but it’s definitely the most left behind edible favor I have ever seen. So, you may want to consider that if you could use the $ elsewhere.

@shrinkgirl: I love this idea. its so cute.
I would do sprinkles because like PP said, allergies!
Another option is crushed toffee? I have toffee sprinkles-that is why i mentioned this
