- Wedding: August 2013
So my bridesmaids have been really great (then again, I’m not expecting a ton from them, as my Maid/Matron of Honor lives an hour away and two live out of state), and we were in the midst of them choosing their dresses so that we could order them in March or April.
I was out with some friends last night and got an email on my phone from my Bridesmaid or Best Man who lives across the country–apparently, her new supervisor asked for their 2013 time off requests, and denied her time off for my wedding. She’s a CNA who rotates through five hospitals and the supervisor’s reasoning was that because she’s a “relief” position and “summer is [their] busy season, so [she] can’t have the time off.” REALLY? Almost NINE MONTHS in advance, and you deny it because it might be busy? That’s BS, since she put in her time off request for her fiance’s sister’s wedding a week prior and that was approved by her old supervisor, and because this new supervisor now refuses to work around school schedules, or give people shift preference (even though she allowed another CNA to move to a different shift because she was having trouble finding childcare). And, apparently, everyone Bridesmaid or Best Man works with is looking for a new job because they all hate the new supervisor.
Bridesmaid or Best Man left a message for the senior director and is waiting for her to get back from vacation, so HOPEFULLY the SD can override and give her the time off. She’s IN a freaking wedding! Argh. I texted my Maid/Matron of Honor about it, and apparently the Bridesmaid or Best Man had called her in tears. 🙁
However, if all else fails and she still isn’t able to make it, two of our guys can walk with one of the others and we’ll list her as “bridesmaid in absentia.”
