Good Morning Hive!
Fi & I love Brunch. It may be that we like having an excuse to drink Champagne at 10am, but that is only mildly relevant.
This last Saturday we were at one of our favorite spots in Venice. We like sitting at the bar – you get better service, and sometimes you meet new friends, which we did!
So, there were two lovely ladies a few seats down from us at the bar. Just super awesome, our type of fun friends.
*Side note – Fi & I decided a month a go that we were NOT going to make ANY new freinds before the wedding and were seriously going to have to start pissing people off. We’re trying to keep our GL to 150, while we know it will end up at 200. If we were able to invite everyone we wanted we’d be over 300… holy catering budget batman…
We try not to be that couple that talks about nothing but the wedding… we do that enough when we are home. We figure we can spare strangers the details. I promise, the person next to you at the salon is just being nice. They do not care about your napkin rings…
Point being, it was about 1/2 way through our conversation that it even came up that our wedding was coming up, etc… Turns out new friend P is… you guessed it, a WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER! At first Fi and I and all 4 of us are laughing joking about the coincidence, but you don’t actually book your photographer over Sweet Tart shots, right? Well, thats the thing. As she was showing me her website, telling me about how she likes to work and her partners style as well… Well I kinda fell in love with her as my new friend AND my photographer. We decided to not talk business while we were busy having fun… Now that it’s Monday…
I don’t know how much photopraphers cost. I work in film and I know how much commercial stills photographers are and what the insane range is there. I’m just realizing that I am not an expert, just a rookie, at this wedding stuff.
What she will provide – 2 photographers (she shoots us in the morning, he shoots with the guys) and maybe a 3rd shooter/assistant as new friend E assists her sometimes.
They will need to travel to Catalina from LA.
I want all of the photos digitally, but I will want her to play with some color temperature, etc on a handful of them…
I don’t even know what general range I need to be looking at. I’d love it to be $1500, but I think that is far too low to be realistic. Is $3000 realistic? I want to figure this out before I talk to her (and I will still talk to other photogs before making a decision) but I don’t want to low ball & offend her, but don’t want to pay more than I should either. Thoughts?
