You are paying the DJ to be the MC- it is their job to provide that!

This is a very weird question I'm sure, but here goes:
MC or no MC?
We're having an afternoon wedding (but i'm hoping a fun and dancy afternoon wedding) and we got a DJ, but i'm not sure how important an MC is.
So my question is, would you suggest having one or is it a waste? What exactly do they do anyway?
thanks!
