Mechanic hands?

My FI, bless his heart, is a mechanic and tries his hardest to get his hands, cuticles and under his nails clean----and they just never are. His hands aren't black or anything, but especially around his cuticles and under his nails they are just really bad sometimes. I normally don't care, he's a guy who works with his hands(!) and if we are going out somewhere special he tries even harder.....but I'm thinking about the up close photos of our wedding rings in the photos to come.

Anyone have a FI who works with his hands and can't seem to get them clean that's good for the photos? We need help because he's fretting about what to do also.

Oh gosh curlysue - I'm in the same boat. My guy is a welder and no matter how much he scrubs his hands they never look, well, perfectly clean. I don't know what to do, I've broached the subject of him getting a manicure a few times and he has flat out refused....sigh....I think I'm gonna have to bribe him to at least let me give him an at-home manicure so they don't look so bad.

He can get stains off with either GOJO or small amounts of paint thinner.

But he can actually completely avoid stains by using vaseline on his hands before working on greasy stuff!!  Or if that's too greasy, surgical gloves will do the trick...

I never thought of GOJO - thanks for that idea Mr Bee!

Sure thing - but make sure to mention the Vaseline trick.  It works WONDERS!!!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Your photographer will edit his hands to make them look perfect. I suggest that he should go for a manicure (unless he finds that too feminine) a couple days before the wedding.

Oh! Great idea! I know he does use surgical gloves on occassion, but sometimes they get too hot or he can't use them for certain things because it's an annoyance. I'll talk to him about the GOJO and the vasline. As for a manicure, yeah, he won't do it. I told him he should do it because it's relaxing---but he has this thing about people being in his bubble he doesn't know (friends/family). If he had to change barbers it would cause him to be a little nervous. Oh well :)

You could also try Lava brand soap. Personally, I use GOJO anytime I have to get under the car, but I have guy friends that prefer Lava.
