Hi all,
I'm pretty new to Weddingbee (started reading it a few weeks ago, and just created a profile yesterday!), but love the community that it supports! I know I missed a meet-up in DC a couple of months ago, but was interested in maybe trying to meet some of the girls in the area. I'm not sure how it works - does it need to be official? - just thought I'd throw it out there.

I live in DC and would be willing to do a meet up! I missed the last one too. I am getting married next June so I have a whole year of wedding bee-ing ahead of me :) Good luck with your planning its so much fun! Where in DC do you live? I am technically an Arlington girl but I work in the city. Perhaps we could see if anyone is up for a happy hour or coffee at Cosi or something?
DC can always use more meet-ups! I had to miss the last one too. I live in DC proper. I suggest somewhere metro-accessible on a weekend.
I'm game too! It's funny - I was just thinking about starting this same thread just a little bit ago.
@Emily - Congrats on your recent engagement! I also got engaged in February and it's been a whirlwind ever since. Have you gotten much planning done yet? I've gotten my dress and my venue (which also includes the caterers), and am just starting to look for photograpers, DJs, etc.
@Lovespearls - I'm in Alexandria, so we're pretty close.
I'm in! Though technically I'll be living in Columbia I'm happy to go down to DC. I get back to the US in June, when is a good day for everyone?

I'd be up for this too! I live and work in the city. DC could definitely do with more meetups! Maybe we could post on the DC Knot board too.

What about June 6th or 7th somewhere in Dupont, thats usually a pretty central location, but any suggestions are totally welcome!
I would love to meet up, but unfortunately I can't do it in the next few weeks but if that's all that works I totally understand! I'm up for any Sunday after June 20th.
Mr. CP and I are always in DC for Thanksgiving, and we'd love to meet with anyone who's interested around Turkey Day 2009. :D I know that's a ways out, but thought I'd say it anyhow!
@dckerry -- Hey date twin! Very cool! We are getting married at Whitehall Manor. It's a historic manor just outside Leesburg, VA - about an hour from DC. It's beautiful and we have had a great experience dealing with the people that run it, at least so far! We originally had picked a date in December, but ended up having to push it back and they were very accommodating and willing to work with us on that, with no penalties! Have you decided on a venue yet?
Hi girls!! I'm getting married in October and I live in Alexandria/Arlington as well! I've been pretty busy with recently graduating from PT school and getting a job/studying for my licensing exam/planning a wedding but I'd love to try to meet up!!
I visit DC every now and again and may actually take a weekend trip down later this summer (late June or early August) if anyone's interested in meeting up then.
So glad there's interest! I work in Gallery Place and live in Capitol Hill (DC born and raised, actually!), so can really get anywhere in/around the city pretty easily. I'd say metro-accessible is key.
@Chianti - thanks for the congrats! Back at you :) Hardly any planning yet beyond blog reading. I've visited just a couple of venues - my goal is to square that away in the next couple of weeks.
@lovespearls - way to start narrowing us down. June 7 (lunchish?) in Dupont works well for me, but I'm also always open to happy hour if more people are in the city during the week. let's try to find a date at least 4-5 can make? or should we wait until late June so msbunny and mschampagne can join?
Later June would most likely be better for me (as I'll be unpacking like a fiend this coming week). Though I can always make time for bees!
Can we do the 13th or 14th? I'm also able to drag myself out for a late happy hour after a run -- I'd love to meet my fellow DC bees :)
June 6 or 7 work for me. I'll be in England June 17-28, for FSIL's wedding, but will be back in town for the rest of the summer after that.
@Chianti: Whitehall looks and sounds great! We ended up picking the Hotel Monaco in Old Town as our venue. We wanted to stay a little closer to DC since we'll have a lot of people visiting from England who've never been here. It has such fun style to it too.
I want to come I want to come. And definitely somewhere in the city near a metro... There's coco sala if you like sweets and yummy drinks. Or maybe somewhere with a really good deal on happy hour stuff? YAY! Sounds like a blast!
Yes I have been dying for a meet up of some kind, DC or MD or something..... So I am game! Anytime after the 1 st week of the month I have a few performances and a e-shot to deal with. Oh and I second the yummy drinks!
Depending on the date and time, I'd be down! Yes, metro accessible, please! I live in VA and am from TX, so I CANNOT do driving in DC! :)
I'm pretty flexible with my Sundays, but my Saturdays are all booked with rugby. But I'm game for happy hours if possible!
the 7th might work for me, but anytime after June 20 would be ideal. Last time we met at Teaism downtown, which worked pretty well. The basement (which i'd never been in) is huge and there was plenty of space for a big group.

I'd love to meet up, but June is bad for me -- my husband is moving to Philly so if it's on a weekend, I'll either be helping him get ready to move, or spending time with him. If anyone plans a meet-up for July or onward, count me in -- I'd especially love to meet more people in the area since simultaneously my husband and all my friends are moving out of the area!
Hello Ladies, I posted about doing boudoir pics in DC with AleksRachael (a fellow bee)about a week ago and have received some interest. Since then I have received some more details from her regarding pricing:
"It will be $275 per girl, which will include the hotel, an hour of shooting, as many outfit changes as you would like, and up to 30 of your touched up best (you can choose the images) images on CD with the rights to reproduce them.
I can offer a professionally bound 8"x8", photobook with the thicker hinged pages with your images in it for $100 extra.
Yes the girls can pick and choose to have their pictures on the blog. Obviously I would not post really racy pictures! But some of the more tastefully done ones I would like to show if possible, but that is based from girl to girl. "
If you haven't already done some research on these types of pictures, I think this is a great deal since the best I could find so far was $400 for the shoot and only ten edited pictures!
Anyway, just let me know if you are interested. I don't know Aleks at all - it's not like I work for her or anything :) I just really liked her style and think this would be a great deal I hope to share with other ladies (and their future hubbies 
) in the DC area. If we can get a few girls to commit, we are looking at doing these in August. August 8th work for y'all?

Sorry I've been MIA! I'm going to make an executive decision and say we're going to meet on Sunday, June 28, because it seems like most of you can meet at the end of June. How's Jaleo at Gallery Place/Chinatown (right off the subway, at 7th and E NW) at 1 pm (just a couple of blocks from Teaism)? It's an amaaaazing tapas place, with yummy sangria. That way we can have lunch/snacks/drinks - whatever people are in the mood for. Unless anyone sees any major problems, it's Jaleo on Sunday, June 28 at 1 pm!
So sad I'll be missing you! My parents decided to throw us an engagement party that weekend--if it was the week before or week after, I'd be golden. But I hope you have a fantastic time and eat lots of tasty Jaleo.

I would love to meet all the fellow DC girls, I live in Arlington, but work in DC. Unfortunately i won't be in town the weekend of the 28th, my fiance is English & we're gonna be back over there for an engagement party & friends weddings. But maybe we can plan another meet up later in the summer for those of us who can't make the 28th.

As of now, the 28th works for me too. The only thing that might change this is if I have to go to training for my new job - if it comes through. I'm still waiting to hear about the outcome....sigh...
I might be in, but Sundays are bad for me. One of the few days to spend with FI as we don't live together. I also don't often come back downtown often on the weekends, do to MEtro's habit of scheduling track work that causes major delays.
Perfect! Unless my sorta semi surprise shower (I've figured out it's a sunday in June, but I don't know which one) isn't that sunday, I'm there!
Darn! I'll be flying back to DC from England on the 28th. Have a great time! Hopefully we can try to do this again in July or August too.
I wont be in town the weekend of the 28th either! But yeah lets try to do it again maybe in July or August, I'd love to meet some of you girls!
