We are having a meeting with our DJ next week to figure out the flow of the night. He mentioned that we should thing about what type of music we should have for each portion of the night – during cocktail hour, dinner, dancing.
We and most of our friends like country music, so the dancing portion will include good country dancing songs, but also mix in some current songs, and I want to include some “classics” like “Sweet Caroline” and “Don’t Stop Believing” that I know everyone will sing along to and enjoy.
What I’m stuck on is what type of music to have during cocktail hour and dinner. I’ve found some bluegrass cover versions of songs – like “Billie Jean”, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, “867-5309/Jenny”, etc. http://www.emusic.com/listen/#/album/pickin-on-series/pickin-and-singin-the-biggest-hits-of-the-1980s-vol-1/11259351/ I think it would be fun to do some of these during cocktail hour – something that everyone will know, but with a country twist. What do you think? Would you love it or hate it?
What about songs during dinner? I’m thinking just some slower sweet county songs.
Thanks a bunch for any input!
