I met with three different florists. One meeting took one hour 15 mins, one was 1.5 hours and one was 2 hours. Hope this helps!
My meetings only took about 45 minutes but this was going in knowing what I wanted such as the style and a budget I was working with.
If you have a clear vision of everything you want it should be really quick, but if you are unsure of the flowers.colors.centerpieces, etc i would allow for at least an hour for each appointment. Don't forget to schedule in time to eat, i saw a whole bunch of wedding vendors in one day and by the end i was not listening to a word b/c all i could think about was food! Starbucks helped me out alot too!
My meetings with vendors have all taken less than an hour. However, that was with me going in with photos and sketches of what I wanted. If you really have no idea, it may take longer. But for instance, for the florist, if you know how many tables you will have and what size, where you want larger arrangements and how many, what your bouts and corsages should look like (and how many of each), if you bring in photos or sketches of the altar area, and if know what kinds of flowers and bouquet/arrangement styles you like (and have some photos of those), your florist should be able to go through flower books, photos of past work, and cost estimates pretty efficiently.
i just came from a florist meeting this evening. it took an hour. i went in with lots of inspiration pics. but i still went thru her albums to see her work. her phone also rung a lot....sooo...i'd say about 10 minutes were me just sitting there while she handled phone calls.
i've seen her work at a friends wedding and her price was very reasonable for all that she is doing...
i think i might have found my florist! ;)
2 hrs should be plenty, but i have to warn you- i went into our first appointment thinking it'd take an hour. well it took well over 3, bc the florist likes to do mock ups right then! he hadnt mentioned this setting up the apptmt, so i was super glad it was a sunday & i had nowhere to be. i was also starving & had sore feet at the end from standing. he was also $3000 over budget. yeah... in hindsight im sure i only stayed that long bc i was numb from the starving & cold room they were assembling flowers in!
I would honestly just ask the florist how long the appointments usually take. They should understand that you have other things to do and be will to help you out by giving you an estimate on the time.

I'm getting married in the bay area but i live in southern california. I will be home for a week and am trying to schedule all my florist meetings in one day (4 meetings) but I'm not sure how much time i should allot for each one.
So I'm wondering, how long do the initial meetings tend to be? How much time should I allow for each?
Any help is really appreciated!
