Hi everyone — I’m trying to decide whether I should have my mehndi done 2 nights before in my home or the night before at a farm I’m getting married at.
The advantage of having it the night before is that my photographer will be there so I’ll get some sweet pictures. Also it makes more sense b/c I wanted to have a mendhi artist there that night to do my friends — The advantage of having in my house 2 days before is that it will probably be darker for the wedding and less stressful in general. — Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry I didn’t vote but I’m struggling with this as well.
I would want to have mine 2 nights before, sangeet the night before. But one of my BMs will only be getting in to town the day before the wedding … so i thought of doing it the morning of the day before the wedding (same day as sangeet) but I’m afraid the mood will suck in the morning and it wont dry/be dark enough for the sangeet.
So I think I’ll have to do it without her there (She’s not indian so I wanted her to see the mehndi/songs fun)
But for you I think you may have enough time the night b4 and u can have fun with your freinds n have it photo’ed.
If the only difference is the pictures but it will be easier 2 -3 days before, do it at home. If it will be friends/atmosphere and pictures, then do it night before.

Hey-I just had my Indian wedding and my mehndi and sangeet were on the same day, the night before the wedding. I really wish I had done the majority of my mehndi the night before the sangeet and then just done a bit of decorative mehndi at the official mehndi party. I ended up washing it off before the sangeet, and even though it turned out nice and very maroon-coloured, I had to compromise and get a more delicate Arabic design in order to expedite drying in time for the sangeet.
I could have left it on for the sangeet and kept it on overnight but was told by the artist not to wash it off with soap for the first washing (it has to be scraped off and then it darkens even after you take it off) and since I had to get up at 5 am for the wedding the day after the sangeet….well, I got locked into about 5 hours drying time between the mehndi and the sangeet and then scraping it off right before the sangeet.
It definitely turned out nice though! If you look through my profile, I have my wedding pics up in recaps and there are pictures of it there.

I’ll be doing my mehndi 2 nights before. On the night before i will be wayyyy to busy to get my mehdni done and then to wait for it to dry.

We’re having our mehndi party 2 nights before and my sangeet/rehersal dinner the night before our wedding. More local guests and family are coming to the mehndi since it’s 2 nights before the wedding, but we’re ok with that since we wanted it to be a more intimate party. So if you want more people to attend you could have the party the night before, but you should definitely get your own bridal mehndi done before that you can actually enjoy the party! Otherwise like many other ladies have mentioned the mehndi won’t be very dark and you’re stuck with hours of drying time the night before your big day!
I’ve been to many weddings where the mehndi party is done during the day, the day fore the wedding so there is enough drying time and you can still have a sangeet or welcome dinner that night, if you’re having one. This way more guests can still attend the mehndi since out of town guests will likely arrive 1 day before the wedding.
