Yup--me too! On that Sunday night. We're getting married in DC, too, so we're excited that there's so much fun stuff going on.

Anyone A SATC fan? The 2nd movie comes out that weekend too!! gonna plan a girls outing to see it to keep me busy that weekend!

Wow, nobody else posted that's getting married on the Saturday, May 29? I picked that weekend cause it works with all my family and friends having graduations. So far haven't had anyone tell me that the prices are higher for that weekend (and our venue is booked) but haven't met with caterers or florists yet! Is anyone running into higher prices for those weekends?

I'm a 5/29/2010 bride! My venue actually gave us a break on cost because it was the Saturday of Memorial Day and not the Sunday (not sure why, but works for me!). I think my photographer is charging her normal rate, and the DJ is the same price as a September 2009 wedding.
We got a great discount on our venue for holding the wedding on Sunday. Everything else seems to be completely normal in terms of pricing, no jacking because of the holiday weekend (which is amazing considering we live in DC!).
The only thing that has been a bit higher was our band (who I love love love love and don't mind the slight extra cost). We were going to go with their 5-piece arrangement, but they wanted us to book the 7-piece since it's a holiday weekend. I understand he has a duty to his band for those kinds of dates, so it's fine with me. We get better music!
We're getting married 5/29/2010, Saturday! We have a lot of out of town guests, so Saturday just worked better.

Dang! I'm a Memorial Day Weekend bride too and I didn't even THINK about booking that Sunday! What a super smart idea. We're getting married that Saturday and we already booked our ceremony and reception sites. I'm beyond excited for the big day. How far along is everyone else in planning? So far we have only booked our sites, next we're going to work on our engagement pics and save the dates. The only problem with that is that we haven't decided on a color scheme yet...

I'm a Sunday bride too! FI proposed to me on May 30, 2009...so it only made sense! Plus it will be our 5-year relationship anniversary that day.
Kaylabee, I also got engaged on May 30th, 2009 and will be getting married on May 30th 2010! I love how that date will hold so many amazing memories for me!
Someone had just cancelled May 30th at the venue we wanted - we booked it since it was Sunday rates, it was only a few hours later we figured out the date match.
We are getting married on Saturday as well. Worked out well because of the # of out of town guests and people in our wedding party. Can't wait...we've booked the venue, DJ, photographer. Just need to work on an officiant and have gotten a jump on DIY save the date cards. Figured this was an necessity because of the holiday weekend.
ugh! i didn't think about doing sunday either! i'm sat the 29th. so far my biggest issue was that the salons are all closed in the area for the holiday weekend...no increases in prices though so that's a good thing!
I'm a Sunday bride as well! I am loving this particular weekend because I'll be able to have my out of town guests come in and have a long weekend at the beach! I was able to score my venue for a few thousand less than the normal rate because it is a Sunday...so I was beyond thrilled!
I am moving to VA next week, so I had to move a bit faster with booking vendors; I have my photog (engagement shoot is tomorrow!!!), florist, food (included with the venue) and day of coordinator figured out at this point...whew!
We're looking at a Sat/Sun wedding and I was wondering if anyone was thinking of bringing in any Memorial Day themes? My father and grandfather (along with a few uncles and cousins) were in the Army and I would love to do something special for them. Any ideas?
Umm...should I be worried that I just read my post from 2 months ago and I haven't made any progress in my planning. Well except that I found my dream photographer and met with him and there's no way that he's going to fit into our budget. And I've sort of figured out our colors and I'm sort of on a bridal diet. LOL
Has anyone sent out their STDs yet? That's the one area that I feel truly behind in...yikes!
Hi everyone, I am a May 29, 2010 bride too!!! My fiance and I actually didn't know we planned our wedding on memorial day weekend until a few days after we booked our venue :), we booked so far in advance! I am so excited and can't wait! Is anyone doing a red, white, and blue theme for their wedding since it is the holiday? I was thinking about it but wasn't sure.. tell me what you think!

Sunday, May 30, 2010 - outside in New Hampshire! Perfect date because we have so many OOT guests. Sent out our STDs already so everyone has plenty of time to make arrangements. Slightly worried about the weather - but we'll have a tent in case of rain.
We're getting married on the central California coast and the weather should be perfect. We're doing our engagement pictures next weekend on the 26th and the HOPEFULLY we can send out our STDs mid October! It's a quasi-desination wedding on a holiday weekend...I'm nervous about people opting out of attending our wedding in favor of other events. :S
We're getting hitched the Saturday before Memorial Day and heading to Jamaica on Memorial Day! Woohoo, love love love it! Starting the summer off with our wedding, how great is that?!
I'm also a 5/29 bride, I haven't really seen any price increases. I can't wait :) it works well for our OOT guests and it's the same date that my parents got married they will be celebrating 26 years of marriage
I'm a 5/29 bride too! It'll be the 6th year anniversary (to the day!) of our first date, which I think is pretty cool :)
kmattso2 - I'm getting married that weekend too... but on the Sunday. It's coming up for sure!

Any of you all getting married on Memorial Day Weekend? We are getting married on the Friday before Memorial Day! I didn't even realize it until a photographer mentioned that it was Memorial Day Weekend!
