Yay Memorial Day brides! We specifically chose Memorial Day weekend because FI's family will all have to travel to the wedding, and we'll be getting hitched the Saturday of that weekend. Even better, our venue gave us a discount for booking the Saturday of Memorial Day vs the Sunday, so we got money off for something we wanted anyway!
Hi! I'm a Memorial Day weekend bride as well! We are getting married on May 30, 2010! I'm super excited to be getting married on that date, as it will give us Saturday for last minute things (I'm sure there will be tons) and people will have Monday off. I am planning to send out save-the-dates early though, since it's a holiday weekend!
I am a May 30th as well! We just heard to send out STD in November... so I am glad I designed them last month!
I am alittle nervous about people coming from out of town ... but I think most people have Monday off anyway..
Hey all! I'm a Memorial Day Weekend bride! Saturday the 29th! I'm sending my STDs out in November or December. Should I send sooner? And I'm planning a BBQ on Sunday, too! Anyone else planning other Memorial Day events for that weekend??
I am getting married on Sunday the 30th, and am sending my save the dates out in the next 2 weeks. Was hoping to plan a bbq for saturday the day before the wedding but it seemed to be too much to throw together before the big day.
Our wedding is Sunday the 30th as well. We just sent out the save the dates this week. We're having a morning wedding followed by a brunch.

Memorial day bride here too! We will be getting married on that Saturday...we also picked the holiday weekend because we live in San Diego but all my family and friends are coming from the Bay Area. We will be having a beach bbq the next day. We sent out our Save the Dates last week also and it made it soooooo real :):):)

My daughter is also getting married on May 29, 2010, she wanted that because it will be mine and her dads 28th wedding anniversary!

hi all! i'm on sat 5.29! already sent my save-the-dates...people were already hounding me about hotel info, etc. so i just decided to send them out and save myself the grief:)
We're getting married on the Saturday May 29th, and our save the dates should be out by the end of this month! It's getting sssooo close

I wanted to get my save the dates out in October, but had engagement photo issues, so November it is!
Yay I'm not the only one who accidentally schedules things for holiday weekends! I had no idea that it was memorial weedend until my mom mentioned it! Plus, since my wedding is that Friday, the fam shouldn't have too much trouble getting it off.
I am so excited to see so many other Saturday May 29th brides!!! 6 months and 1 week away, OMG!! I can't believe how close it is. We just got our save the dates in the mail last week, but we might wait until after the new year to mail them.. that way they won't get accidentally mixed in with Christmas cards. They are magnets, but you never know.
We have pretty much everything, the only big decisions left are bridesmaid dresses and an officiant... lol those things are minor though, right?
We're in upstate NY and our ceremony is outside... I am hoping and praying for good weather, I would be so bummed if we have to move it indoors for rain :( My venue is under new ownership and he just built an awesome ceremony site and I'm so excited to be among the first to use it!
ME TOO!! We chose that date because our destination wedding, we figured our friends and family can make it a long weekend without taking too much time off work!! I'm super excited!!
Is a memorial day weekend friday or saturday wedding cheaper? I know Sunday would be the cheapest, but how about the other two days?
Chipmunk, it totally depends on the venue. At my venue, Friday was the cheapest, then Saturday, and Sunday of MDW was the most expensive!
No I haven't noticed the prices being any cheaper or more expensive than any other Saturday in May. We thought about doing it on Sunday so we could have saved a little on our venue, but we just liked the idea of a Saturday wedding... plus we figured if people wanted to go away for Memorial Day they could still go Sunday and Monday.

Any of you all getting married on Memorial Day Weekend? We are getting married on the Friday before Memorial Day! I didn't even realize it until a photographer mentioned that it was Memorial Day Weekend!
