I never realized how true this was until I met my husband. If he hurts a part of his finger, he acts like it's the biggest pain the world! ha ha And you are right about the labor part. I had a c section and was walking around the next day so my husband thought I didn't experience much pain. I was but just couldn't sit still. Men are huge babies!
Hah! Yes. Last year my husband was incapacitated, wouldn't get out of bed, complained blah blah because he was *dying* of a bad cold, it must be strep etc. So we finally take him into the Dr. and it's allergies. One Zyrtec later guess who's bright eyed and bushy tailed....
I love how when sick, we're still going to work, doing errands, taking care of the house too... men!
Could not agree MORE! Every time my FI is sick, the whining and complaining is nonstop! He acts like he is dying! I'm like OMG, it is just a cold or a headache. It makes me laugh! He totally does the "Can you get me this?" bit, too! Haha! Men are TOTALLY babies :-)
@forforever: ROTFL!!! Exactly! A little allergies, cold, even FLU aint' stop no women from getting something done! :)
On the flip side, men really really appreciate it when their SOs take care of them when they are sick. It's a huge opportunity to show someone that you love them, in sickness and in health!
My husband doesn't (thank goodness) but my dad does. My mom says she has trouble feeling sorry for him when he's sick because he has more than enough sympathy for himself.
@mrbee: SO TRUE!! And you know what??? As much as I laugh and can't imagine whyhe's acting like such a baby...I find myself babying him and wanting to take care of him! Left him this morning with tissue, medicine and water on the nightstand! LOL!!
My FI is such a baby when he is sick, and I blame his mother 100%. Every time he was sick she would wait on him hand and foot, even when he was in is early twenties. He did have mono so I can understand taking extra care for that but when he has a head cold should would do everything for him.
FI had a stomach bug a few weeks ago, she called at the very least twice a day, she stopped over one day and stayed for a few hours. When she called him she wanted to talk to me to ask me what I am doing for him.
I'll admit that my husband and I are the opposite. I don't deal with physical pain or feeling sick as well as he does. I complain a little and he really doesn't complain at all! He's much more a trooper than me!
@mrbee: and don't get me wrong, I love to! He's actually pretty cute when he's all curled up feeling sorry for himself. Its just hilarious to see such an otherwise brute of a guy crumble at the first signs of discomfort ;)
@Jenn23: AWWWW!! Thanks for being truthful and showing us the other side!! :)
@forforever: RIGHT! I'm like if anyone knew you were over here acting this way they wouldn't believe it! BUTTTTTTTTTTTTT he's soooooooooo dang on cute!! :)
My FI does this, he is the baby of his family too.
I dont mind taking care of him. I enjoy making him a special grilled cheese and a bowl of soup because I know it brings a smile to his face and he appreciates it.
@Donnica22: but of course!
He always asks for the "most awesomest grill cheese" when he is sick.
LOL-- its just a regular grilled cheese but he thinks its awesome so we will go with that.
not about my husband, but one time when i was studying abroad in rural brazil, a few of our group (like 4 out of 20 of us) got a really bad case of food poisoning or a virus or something. like so bad they took us to a hospital. one of the guys who got sick was this total muscle-y, jock type, and he was the biggest baby out of all of us! i mean, we were all sick, but i was trying to be chipper and make the best of it, even after i fainted trying to get up out of bed, and he's over on his hospital bed like, sobbing.
hubby's a little better, but he doesn't get sick often. he's taken care of me through 2 cases of flu though!
I have to be honest - FI and I are both babies when we're sick! We totally want to be waited on hand and foot. The only difference is that he hasn't figured out how to do it right yet!
J and I are both sick right now. He's not bad at all. He just sleeps his days away.
