Hey bees, I need some help figuring out what shoes the groosmen/groom should wear. I can’t say I am an expert at men’s fashion and what is okay/not okay.
Groom is wearing a navy suit. Groomsmen are wearing slim fitting khakis and navy blazers. All will be wearing the same geren vineyard vines tie. [Bridesmaids in navy j.crew dresses with nude heels]. Our wedding is going to be very preppy/nautical (if you couldn’t tell).
So what do the men wear?
1. Boat shoes — goes with the feel, but seems a little too casual, at least for the groom in a suit. (He wants them all in the same kind of shoes). My biggest thing against the Sperry’s is the sock issue…I think you need to wear socks with a suit.
2. Loafers — I think a step above the boat shoes. I lean towards these. My only fear is the sock/no sock debate. Can you wear loafers w/socks? Also, fwiw, he likes more fitted suits, not the kind that will totally cover your ankle, so people will see if he’s wearing socks or not. (same goes for the groosmen)
3. Wingtip/more formal dress shoe — would solve the sock problem, but might look more dressy, esp. for the groomsmen in khakis.
Here are some pictures just of the general look we are going for:
