    Hey All -

We're trying to find a suit for my FI to wear on the day, and so far Mens' Warehouse and the like all have nice suits, but they lack a certain rockstar quality we're seeking.  Eco-friendly would be the bomb, but right now we'll take what we can get...

Any good suggestions of modern menswear or custom suitmakers?

    Thanks!

We went to S&K Menswear for our suits [FI and groomsmen].  They were SO nice there- unusual since we're young and don't look like the 'big money' types.  We ended up buying two different suits for FI, a modern black one and a more classic pinstripe.  They're pretty cost-effective too.  Quality enough for the occasional wearer but not a million bucks.  :]

DH got his at Nordstrom.  It's Hugo Boss, and is very nice.  Obviously more $$ than MW, but you do get what you pay for.  My dad got his suit at MW, and frankly the fabrics were not that great.  (Dad's suit was about $300, DH's was $700.)

i second the Nordstrom idea, or if you have outlet malls nearby, try the Saks off Fifth or other high-end outlet stores for discounted designer suits. You can definitely find suits for under $500 that are still nice and stylish. I wish I could find that Details magazine article that came out a few months ago- they named suits from Club Monaco, Banana Republic, French Connection, along with some Armani Exchange and Boss suits as the best under $500.

oh, yes, and if you're looking for custom, try Thick As Thieves
    - they are based out of LA, but do online orders and have a great rep. Very cool stuff, totally custom. They can do less trendy, more classic 2- and 3-button suits too.

Ooooh, thanks Ms. Sweet Tea!  I've contacted them.  Great tip, thanks!

PS - where were you on Sunday?  We missed you at the LA meetup :(

Ok, I could have sworn that I replied to this. I like Zara for cool cheap suits.

My husband & all of the groomsmen got their suits (tan) at Banana Republic.  They all looked fantastic and I know they will be worn again!

My fiance and I were in his sister's wedding last year and they purchased dark brown suits from Joseph Banks (www.josbanks.com) for all of the groomsmen.  They looked fabulous and my fiance has already worn his again.  The best part is that Joseph Banks has sales all the time...you can sometimes get s $300 suit for as low as $100 if you time it right.  Let me know if you need any pictures.  Thanks!
