When should FI begin looking at men's wear for our Friday, May 3 wedding? Also, we live in San Francisco but are getting married in Philadelphia. We'll probably fly out to Philly Monday or Tuesday before the wedding. Should he pick up his suit here in SF or in Philly, assuming we go with a chain like Men's Wharehouse?
@amyj1276: Are you buying or renting? Out here in SF, I would drop into stores like Off fifth and Nordstrom Rack from time to time - you can get some great deals on suits! Then you can just transport his suit in garment bags.
@pengoala: Thanks! I hadn't thought about that. If they're going to rent, what would the timing be?
@amyj1276: Renting at Men's Wearhouse is fairly easy - I'm even thinking you can go to a Men's Wearhouse here in SF and have the suits ready to be picked up in Philly, though it's been over a year since DH and I did the MW thing, so i'm not super clear on if that's how it works.
we have 2 GM in RI and 1 in CA and FI lives in Boston, we are getting married in SC, so everyone is getting measured and I will pick up the suits in SC the week of the wedding. That way nothing gets lost on a plane and none of them forget anything :)
I live in NV and I got a postcard from Mens WH saying that the groom and his groomsmen will need to be seen and measured by 12/7 in order to make it on time for our wedding which is on 5/4/13. I scheduled the groom and his BM and when they got there the guy was like, they could've gotten their measurements and their choice of tux 14 days BEFORE the wedding and it would've been fine.
They chose their tux and colors anyways since they were there but we haven't told any other groomsmen yet to go b/c we were told it doesn't need to be done too early. Again that's here in Las Vegas. Maybe our town is just used to everyone getting married! LOL
Our guys are wearing grey suits. They live in different places so we are going with an accessible store - JC Penney. They are all college students, so affording a suit to buy is tough. But I think buying is always better than renting. We won't have them spend more than $150 each.
If you end up buying you can check out outlet malls- Fairfield and Gilroy are the biggest around (I think). Calvin Klein and DKNY have great suit selections but they also have Ralph Lauren and other stores.
