Hive, I’m not trying to be alarmist, but just wanted to bring this to your attention, esp since it seems quite a few bees are trying to get pregnant…
The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy and the Environmental Health journal recently released separate studies on the presence of mercury in high fructose corn syrup, and common foods like jams, ketchup, chocolate milk, cereal bars, and applesauce. We’re not talking off label brands either; they researched products from Quaker, Hershey’s, Kraft and Smucker’s.
Obviously mercury is not something you want in your system, and especially not affecting your fetus.
I posted more details with links to the original articles here; there’s also quite a bit of discussion going on all over the web, like at HuffPo, WebMD, US Food Policy blog, Epicurious, and the Ethicurean. Being a smart, informed consumer may help us make decisions that are better for our health; hope this is useful to some people. I know I’m going to be even more vigilant about what I eat from now on!
