mine is a trumpet. i am able to walk in it, but it's tight when i sit down (but i can still sit).but since i love the dress too much, i am willing to deal with sitting uncomfortably :P
(sorry about the quality of the photos, i only have big mirrors in my room which doens't get much natural sunlight, so i had to adjust the brightness of the pix and, therefore, made the pix somewhat blurry)
i remember reading from other posters that their mermaid/trumpet dresses were so tight that they couldn't even sit down and so had to get a 2nd dress for the reception.
i have also read that some mermaid (not trumpet) dresses are hard to walk in. if that concerns you, choose a trumpet over mermaid.
I actually just bought this yesterday in Diamond White after looking at it for months.
Here is my trumpet gown. Love it so much-- can't wait to wear it!
Here's mine. I can't wait to see it in a few months again!
I cannot wait to try my gown on when it arrives next week! And then I won't see it again until i pick it up from the seamstress.

^The first photographic glimpse my wedding dress designer has sent me of my dress (with the bustle in place)!! I'm very excited!!
Mine is more of a fit and flare gown (Maggie Sottero's Anniston) but i had it taken in around the hips a little more..it is comfortable to walk and move it but sitting is a little hard since it is a corset back as well if i sit on a very mushy place i need help getting up :)
Here is the front of my dress and it has buttons down the back! Drool!

here is the sample on me.
I am going to have it made into a sweetheart like this.
Ladies, you look gorgeous. I wish I actually had waist/hips to pull this off. Damn ruler shape!
I had a trumpet but I only wore it for the ceremony and pictures. It wasn't difficult to move in.
Here is mine! I am also worried about the sitting thing. Right now i have room around the hips but would like to have it taken in..im scared it will make it hard to sit so we will see when i go for my first fitting!
LOVE these dress! Everyone's is so pretty! I have another appointment at the salon, so I'll have to try sitting in the dress next time!
I'm worried about the sit aspect, too. My first fitting is in a couple of weeks, so we'll see! They do need to take in the hips some, but I don't know where the line will be between me wanting my hips to look smaller and being able to sit . . .

Here's mine! I've posted it before, but here it is again. Looove it!
@bunnylovesbear: do you mind me knowing who the designer is for your dress?? I seriously love the material and it looks great on you!!
I'd love to know the designers too, these are gorgeous dresses!
@bunnylovesbear: ooo I LOVE your veil! Can you tell me what kind that is plz? :D
I can't decide if mines a mermaid or a trumpet... but here she is anyway!
Kenneth Pool for Priscilla of Boston Platinum Collection PL396~! :D

I too have AWFUL lighting in our bedroom - and had to take it with a timer so FI wouldnt see. No alterations yet - which OBVIOUSLY need to be done. but i love her!
This is my dress. And I'll be seeing in person this Sunday because it just came in! I haven't seen or tried it since last September.

@Missido: i LOVE the back! show the real pictures when you can, id love to see them!
Here is mine! Sitting is a lil uncomfortable but after I fix my hoop situation I believe it will be a lot better. walking/dancing isn’t hard and all dresses that have bigger bottoms create a lil difficulty not just mermaid/trumpet

@Missido: GORGEOUS gown!
Sitting and dancing are easier the more trumpet and less mermaid your dress is. Also, your alterations can affect this as well. If you want it super tight in the hips and thighs and it's strapless, sitting will be precarious, but if you have if you have your seamstress leave just a but of room along the seams below you waist, you'll be fine.
@KimmySumShuga: I LOVE your dress. I saw a similar one by Jim Hjelm collection. Gorgeous.
@vreelans: Thank you! Absolutely, I will post real pictures after I try it on on Sunday. (I'm soooo excited but scared at the same time. Hoping I love it just as much when I try it on, it's been so long.) I really love your dress too. The satin and lace together looks fantastic.
@abby_mb: Thank you for the compliment :) Your dress is STUNNING. And if that's you in the picture, it's like it was made for you. Fits you perfectly!
I just ordered my trumpet/mermaid a couple weeks ago. It's a Spring 2012 Mori Lee. I can't sit down! I am really worried about this. But I adore my dress--it's the one! I have no clue how I will eat or sit for the garter ceremony! I would consider a different dress for the reception but I love it so much I don't want to only wear it for 30 minutes!
I too am a bit concerned about being able to sit in my mermaid gown. It hasn't come in yet but I'm going to make sure the alterations make it "Sitable" and I definitely have to be able to dance in it!

Hello! I just went on my first big dress shopping trip and I'm leaning towards mermaid styles. Anyone wear a mermaid/trumpet gown? Was it comfortable? Were you able to sit/dance?
Those of you who have mermaid/trumpet dresses, post some pictures!
Here's one to start (not mine, just something pretty by Monique Lhuillier)
