Sorry, I don’t have a pic, but I did try one on! I’m a 12 in pants usually and a 14 on top, and I tried on a Robin Jillain mermaid dress, and it looked really good! I ended up not going with it because I always wanted a ballgown, but I did like the way it looked on me.

One of the things to look for is ruching or gathered material that kind of hides your tummy (if you have one, which I certainly do!). That’s what made the one I tried look good :).

@icedchaitea: I’m a size 12/14 with curves (14″ difference btw waist and hips) and here are some trumpet dresses I tried on:

@icedchaitea: They are both pronovias. The first is called Alga, the second is called Fribugo.

The 2nd one was in the running for a long time. I ended up going back and forth between that one and the one I ultimately bought.

I just cleared my camera once I picked the dress I wanted but I’m a size 10, (12) in wedding gowns and memaids/trumpets are MADE for curves !! You should really go try on a few, but my favorite dress so for is a ball gown with dropped waist because it hides my hips and sucks my stomach in.

This is one of my best friends and one of my bridesmaids. She’s getting married 2 months after me, and this is her dress. She is a size 14 and I think she looks SO awesome in a trumpet/mermaid dress. If you got curves, these dresses show ’em off!

@KatNYC2011: You look amazing in all those dresses! Trumpet/mermaid is definitely the style for your shape.

@msgraphics:  Oh My Gosh…we are dress twins!  I just bought mine yesterday after months of shopping and not finding anything I liked.  Weird.

@ms_nickie Yay for dress twins!!  I hope your as much in love with it as I am! I haven’t seen anyone else with it yet. Are you planning on using the shoulder strap? I thought it was too much when I tried it on, but now I’m thinking about an updo for the reception, so I’m debating.

@msgraphics:  I’m totally using the strap.  For me that just set the whole dress off.  Here is a grainy pic of me in the sample with the strap.

@ms_nickie: Even though it’s grainy I can tell that dress looks awesome on you! Congrats on finding your dress.
