So we are thinking of placing a wine bottle on each table and having guests leave messages for us on pieces of paper and then placing them in the bottle. Then on our year anniversary we’ll open them.
What should the instruction card say?

Cute idea. A slogan I saw was “Write us a message for marital bliss, In the bottle it goes, be sure not to miss!” There are a few threads about this on here, they might have some more ideas. Good luck

We’re thinking about doing something like this too. My friend actually did do this (just not wine bottles) — she had her guestbook set up on a guestbook table with framed instructions.
They said: “In lieu of signing a guest book we are using a message in a bottle. Please write us a message, roll and tie it up with twine, and place it into the bottles. We will open the first bottle as newlyweds and the second bottle on our ten year anniversary. Thank you!”
Then they printed a label or one jar that said newlyweds and attatched it to their jar — likewise with the 10 year jar. They did jars with lids so it’s easier to get into the jar and you don’t have to break it like you would a wine bottle.
I’m going to be doing something very similar more than likely but our jars will be mason jars. =]
